DC11 just woke up with sniffles and feeling sick. Pretty sure not CV.
He is going to be off school.
What do I do about other DC?
What do I do about going to work?

However, going to make sure this is not the case obviously.

My interpretation is that if he doesn't have any of the three main symptoms no-one has to isolate (but I can understand keeping him off school just to see how he goes).

Ponoka7 · 11/09/2020 06:31

Under the guidance the other DC can go to school. It's up to you about work. I don't think we can all stop going about our business over colds, it's unrealistic. But D&V are a symptom of Covid in children. So I'd explore the 'feeling sick'.

FredaFlinstone · 11/09/2020 06:32

Symptoms:

Blocked nose
Occasional cough
When drinks water, is still thirsty
Throat hurts

if he doesn't have any of the 3 symptoms then the others go to school, you can go to work.

If he gets one of the main symptoms you all have to self isolate and he needs a test.

kimlo · 11/09/2020 06:32

how much of a cough?

WishITookLifeSeriously · 11/09/2020 06:33

This is happening in my house too today. Ds14 is staying off school after being sick and feeling rubbish. Dd will be going to school and I'm going to work.

middleager · 11/09/2020 06:33

I would do exactly what you would normally do if he felt like this - presumably, keep him off, arranging childcare and getting the others in.

FredaFlinstone · 11/09/2020 06:33

I have not heard him cough yet, so very minor.

Ah xpost, just saw the cough...

kimlo · 11/09/2020 06:35

if he has had more than 3 bouts of coughing in 24 hours thats a persitant cough and you all need to stay at home until he's been tested.

Michellebops · 11/09/2020 06:35

Sounds like a cold.
Keep him off and send the others.

Monitor temp regularly.

Schools are just back, we had the same last month in Scotland

MissPoldark · 11/09/2020 07:16

A study just found that the 3 main symptoms for adults don’t appear to be the same in children.

covid.joinzoe.com/post/back-to-school

According to this, symptoms we should be aware of in children are:

Fatigue
Headache
Fever
Sore throat
Loss of appetite

No mention of cough at all.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 11/09/2020 07:19

I've had the sniffles and nausea for the last couple of days too . Covid hasnt even crossed my mind, cough and temp is what I'm looking out for .
This is going to cause so much health anxiety, which I used to have , so I know how awful it is . :(

FredaFlinstone · 11/09/2020 10:59

Temp ranges 36.5 - 37.2
Will keep an eye on it
Thx you lot. You saved my sanity this morning. I flipped my kid.
