Under the old guidelines up to 6 people could meet indoors but only from maximum of 2 households.

From Monday the guidelines state that a maximum of 6 people can meet indoors or outside but they do not clarify whether or not the 2 household rule continues to apply to inside meet ups.

Anybody who can help?

it's 6 people from any number of households.

unchienandalusia · 10/09/2020 22:02

6 people. It couldn't be clearer.

toolatetooearly · 10/09/2020 22:10

it's 6 people, or 4 people and 4 dogs, or 3 people, 3 dogs, and a small collection of vegetables. Up to 3 households, unless your surname starts with a J, then you have to stay home until Easter 2022.

Racoonworld · 11/09/2020 05:35

How are people getting confused about this? They have simplified it so everyone can understand. It’s rule of 6. 6 people. Any 6 people. Forget the old rules, they weren’t law. This is law and replaces them.

Torvean32 · 11/09/2020 05:43

In Scotland its 6 ppl from 2 households but under 12s dont count.

Morfin · 11/09/2020 05:48

This is why people are confused. This was the advert on fb this morning.

It’s not clear as the list of exemptions is huge. However I think it means 6 living bodies unless you’re a bigger ‘household’ so if you have a household of 7 living under 1 roof one you doesn’t have to move out however you can’t have any more in.

If another household has 2 people living there (including children in England) then 4 more people may meet up. These 4 maybe from 4 different household. So your friend and child count as two. Granny on her one and Uncle Tom from next door as One. However if Mary and her 5 kids want to come to your household where just you and your partner live she needs to either leave one of the kids at home or your partner needs to go out.

However if you send your kids to schools it’s ok for them to sit in rooms of 30 for 5hrs a day because covid knows not to infect people in a classroom. But it WILL strike if more than 6 people gather outside of education or work Settings or sport or weddings or religious ceremonies or funerals Or shopping centres or the bus or the train or in a plane. It’s very clever. It can tell the difference. Confused

They just need to find a way to knock it on the head again a bit. If a quarter of the population reign it all in, then it will cut infections a bit. I doubt very much many people will listen but we have to try something. If we can get through the last 6 months, we can get through this. It’s shit but just got to keep plodding on and trying to complete Netflix

Was sent this today to help people understand more. I am still rather confused.com!!

If anyone is having difficulty working out these new Covid rules, I’ve broken them down for you...
You can meet hundreds of people at work🏢or school🏫 you can brush shoulders🙎‍♀️, pick their noses👃and lick their face👅 if you wish?!But don’t meet more than 6 of these people in leisure time as the virus has mutated🤷‍♀️
It now only infects you if there’s 7 or more people in a group and you’re chilling out🧖‍♀️ It can not infect you at school or work, because it’s scared of the huge crowds of people🤔

You can still go to a pub🍻 where you are in an enclosed building breathing in everyone’s germs🧫 because Covid doesn’t drink🚫 so it doesn’t go to the pub of course🤷‍♀️
But scientists have discovered that Covid is quite partial to your parents👫 or friends👯‍♀️garden⚘🌱or house🏠 or in the open air🏞 where social distancing is very easy!
In fact, this is so risky😷that councillors are probably sat🪑 round a table in the local pub, discussing the closure of them right now!
It’s still ok for you to cram into tourists spots🗽🎡🎢🎠 as long as only 6 of you come at once, because 7 might tip it over the edge and make Covid sad🥺
But you are alright until Monday because the Virus must be still on Holiday🥳
Think that should clear things up! 😁👍🏻

Apologies for lack of paragraphs - they were there but disappeared during the sending process!

Those 6 are still supposed to be distanced
.. again, if done properly should all be OK.
