No tests available at all

Son has sore throat, cough, temp, no sense of taste.

Been on the government COVID test finder.

No home tests available.

No walk in tests available.

No drive through tests available.

I live within 25 mins of three cities.

I am a chemo therapy patient so need to know if my son has COVID as I am extremely vulnerable.

How can this be possible?

Keep trying the website op! I think slots are released at 5pm or 8pm then try in the morning if not. Same happened to me Tuesday managed to get one Tuesday night 8pm for the following morning.

Paranoidmarvin · 10/09/2020 17:05

Yup. It’s only going to get worse as the schools are sending more and more children home with colds. I’m not judging but it will just get worse. The one I attended today was empty. The guy said they are doing nothing.

Changedmynamelots · 10/09/2020 17:05

Yesterday I tried about 6pm and got an apt so keep trying. Pop up centres might open also if you are in a high area so keep tryingb

Quartz2208 · 10/09/2020 17:07

You just need to keep on trying. It took me 3 hours to get tests this week but they are there

stuckagainhelpplease · 10/09/2020 17:20

Do you go back to the beginnin and re enter all the details? Or can you sit on the "enter postcode" page and then "find test site" page ?

I found re- entering details more successful but I used a code that I had from my employer so slightly different

superking · 10/09/2020 17:23

Last night I flicked between the "drive through" and "walk through" options for five minutes or so (so not re-entering my details) before slots appeared at several locations, so keep trying.

Thirtyrock39 · 10/09/2020 17:46

We tried going to a drive in place where we were turned away but got a test at a city centre walk in mobile place
Ironically at the same time slots appeared out of the blue on the website for drive through

Cakeandfinewines · 10/09/2020 18:10

Got lucky just after 8 yesterday evening when lots seemed to suddenly appear, having tried for 24 hrs before that. Hope you manage to find one. When we turned up at drive through today I got the impression they wouldn't have turned us away without a booking as she barely asked to look at the QR code.

FayKnights · 10/09/2020 18:13

I’ve been trying all day, thanks for the 8pm tip, will definitely try that!

movingonup20 · 10/09/2020 18:15

If you are close to any of the enhanced support areas there are walk in places you don't need an appointment for.

Sevo7 · 10/09/2020 18:35

When I try it’s saying ‘no test sites found’ does this mean there’s no testing centres locally or no slots anywhere?

Moltenpink · 10/09/2020 18:37

Yes, someone on the 119 helpline confirmed that 8pm was the release time. Don’t sit midway through the process, I did that, thought I’d booked but it hadn’t gone though Hmm

Landlubber2019 · 10/09/2020 18:39

We got a test yesterday but it took repeated attempts and about 3hrs to find a centre with spaces available. we had to drive an hour to the nearest test centre. We contacted our local mp to complain as it's very poor.

Papyrus · 10/09/2020 18:40

I’ve heard, anecdotally, that people have had success in just turning up at their local test site. Not sure if this is the case everywhere.

Landlubber2019 · 10/09/2020 18:40

We found slots released around 10am too!

I am not sure if that would work as you need a qr code to attach your details to the sample

Landlubber2019 · 10/09/2020 18:45

@Sevo7 we were offered 1 test centre yesterday 75 miles away, so if nothing's available I would say there are no slots to be had currently. I would add that although we were offered a test site, when we went to book a slot, there weren't any for over 2weeks!

MJMG2015 · 10/09/2020 18:50

@stuckagainhelpplease

Nightmare. Hope you can get something at 8pm

How old is DS?

Sorry to hear you're a chemo patient 🌷
