Can playgroups run?

Me and a couple of other mums were looking at setting up a playgroup again. We were having a risk assessment done and speaking to the venue etc.
It was all looking promising until yesterday.

I’m unsure whether it’ll be allowed or not. And not sure who to ask either.

Regardless of what happened today local playgroups round here are a definite no because they would have to ensure everyone was 2m apart and would have to clean all equipment between each session which is probably unfeasible.

Ps Playgroups are on the list of exemptions so definitely can still run if you can find a venue willing and work around all the other rules.

If they are business and can make money then I should imagine they can still run.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 09/09/2020 21:40

Yes they are on the exemptions list.

@onedayinthefuture
Playgroups rarely qualify as a business. Voluntary group more like. Anyway they definitely can. Whether or not it’s viable with all the cleaning and social distancing rules is another matter.

@Frazzled2207 I'm pretty sure she means that money generating businesses are being encouraged to run, on account of the economy (which must be preserved).

Thanks everyone Smile

Good Luck!

I'm glad that I am not involved with play groups anymore!

But on the other hand they are such a wonderful thing for youngsters, more so now than ever

Wishing you every success.
