Get a test with these symptoms?

Ds 10 started feeling unwell last night - mostly sore throat and stuffed up nose. But also had a slight cough.

Figured it was just a cold but decided it was a good idea to keep him off school because of the cough.

He has got much worse over the last few hours, headache, stomach pains/vomiting and very very tired.

Feel very uncertain - there is no fever and runny nose isn't a symptom as far as I'm aware - but he's also never had a cold like this.

So should he get tested? I know testing is under strain right now and the only real covid symptom he has is a minor cough so don't want to waste resources

If he has a cough, I would myself.

If there was no cough at all, I wouldn't, but I might ask the GP for guidance given the other symptoms.

Also do not rush him back to school if very tired. Hope he is better soon Flowers

Well if he has symptoms (whether that's one or all of them) won't the household have to self-isolate? So isn't it better to know so that you can continue to go about your life if it's negative?

I'd aim for a test in that situation. However I think you'll have trouble accessing one unfortunately.

He has lots of the symptoms! Tiredness, headache, stomach upset and sore throat are all symptoms. Of course he needs a test.

Stomach problems have been identified as a symptom, particularly for children. I agree with others, test. Good luck in getting one in time, though.

Thanks - I knew headaches/stomach problems were reported in some cases its just the runny nose throwing me off

Was planning to isolate anyway (not hard for us as work from home) and will try to get a test.
