If 250 children deregister the government save £1000000. And that’s before they start looking to make redundancies.

Could this rock and hard place dilemma that many people with vulnerable family members are finding themselves in a deliberate money saving venture?

I had thought it was all about getting people to work and pretending life but as the illusion of normal starts to shatter I’m wondering about other motives especially as I’ve read loads of stuff about heads hands being tied.

If you cut funding to schools this way then schools will be spending less and injecting less into economy either by way or staffing or resources - saving money is not a way to get the economy going... spending is

Thank you, this makes me feel better! I’m really hoping shielding comes back soon, like now! I just can’t get my head around the situation atm.

Glad that made sense. The government won't want any spending to reduce - theirs or the public's - its the basis of an economy that to keep an economy going and avoid or get out of a recession people need to spend. That is why interest rates get cut, to encourage borrowing to spend and to discourage saving, its why the government have given so many grants and loans to businesses to keep them going and spending on their staff salaries etc...

No it did, maybe it’s more about attendance figures looking good. Or maybe it’s just collateral to their plans.
