Who isolates?

My son is 9 months old and goes to nursery 4 days a week. He started to have a runny nose yesterday. Today he hasn't eaten all day and hardly drank anything. I measured his temperature and it is between 38.4 and 38.6.
With this temperature I am guessing he shouldn't be going to nursery? Does he need to do a Covid test if he has this temperature?
Do my husband and I need to both isolate and not go to work until we get a negative result back?

38.7+ is considered a temperature for covid purposes. If it gets any higher a test would be advised.

Well yes but a temperature is still a potential symptom.

Yes, current guidance says if you or one of your household has a high temperature you should self isolate. So that means you and DP as well as baby.

Such a pain, but it's the right thing to do.

Thank you for those who have replied so far. I am assuming it is a big from nursery or teething, but didn't want to send her into nursery /me go to work if I am not meant to. Do you know if the 38.7 is for toddlers too? I hadn't heard of that threshold before.

Not at a temperature under 38.7⁰C though.

Is it not 37.8? This wee ones temp is high. Its most likely teething or cold but a test or 14 days household isolations is required I'm afraid.

This is going to be a tough winter for so many families with wee ones.

Technically DC can go out after 7 (or is it 10 now?) days, but that seems logistically unlikely.

Whatever you “think” may be the cause teething etc a test would be required as temp is over 37.8c and the whole house has to isolate until a negative test result or 14 days

Temp over 37.8 means you all have to isolate for 14 days from the onset of symptoms (well, the baby only needs to do 10 but...), or if any of you develop symptoms then 10 days from when your symptoms start. You should get him tested yeah, and if it's negative then you can stop isolating.

I feel your pain though. If you so much as look at my 8 month old the wrong way he gets a fever. It's been a long 6 months...

It's 37.8 and above so yes the child needs a test and yes you all need to isolate until a negative test or for 14 days if positive. I still don't know why people don't know this?!
