So, I have a bit of a tickly nose and scratchy throat. No cough, no temp and no loss of taste or smell. My partner also has the same symptoms. We both feel well and these are hardly even noticeable but i can just tell im not 100%.

I was going to get a covid test but am reading everywhere that you shouldn't just get tests unless you really think you need one and have one of the 3 main symptoms (which we dont).

Im thinking, go about daily business as usual, make sure i wear a mask and use gel constantly. I dont go near anyone but obviously have life to get on with and my partner needs to go to work too. Help please as i dont know if I'm overthinking or if we should be isolating x

They are not the symptoms that are supposed to prompt a test. Our schools are expressly saying not to get our kids tested if they have those symptoms are they are symptoms of the cold.

Don’t get a test with those symptoms. Probably just a cold.

ReginaaPhalange · 08/09/2020 12:58

Please don't get a test. It is only for the 3 symptoms which you are not displaying. It sounds like you have a cold coming on.

my daughter and I had similar symptoms to yours and ordered a test.. it took 3 days to arrive due to bank holiday and 6 days to get result.. by about day 4 we were perfectly fine but couldn’t go anywhere so it was pretty stressful. Then the depressing cherry on the cake was reading on here about how people like me were causing problems by taking up the tests unnecessarily as I didn’t have the main symptoms. I was possibly overreacting but thought I was doing the right thing.

If I have those symptoms again I will do my best to stay away from people as much as possible but I won’t self isolate and I won’t take a test.

That seems like a really sensible approach. Hope that you’re feeling better soon xx

Do not test. It’s Autumn now & other illness have not gone away. You can live life normally. You sound like you’ve got a minor cold or virus. My DD has a cold. Def a cold. No temp, no cough (bar clearing her chest of snot first thing in the morning), no loss of taste etc. I did ask nursery if it was OK & they said totally fine so off she’s gone! She’s not unwell anymore (I kept her off when she clearly felt grim), she’s full of beans. Just snotty now. Nursery already have multiple kids with colds but none of the 3 symptoms since it’s gone cooler & damper where we are! They are following the govmt guidelines or they’d never have any kids in!
