COVID Testing Unit didn’t exist!

DD got a fever on Saturday so we booked a COVID test and are all isolating as instructed. We got a test booked for Sunday at a site about 30mins drive away (so far so good as I’d heard of people being sent much further). Turned up at the required location, which was somewhere I already knew but I still used the sent postcode and sat nav to be sure - but there was no test centre!! It was a mobile drive in unit in a car park so wasn’t hidden away and while I initially thought I’d got something wrong I quickly noticed a stream of cars coming in and driving around looking confused and then at least 10 cars parked erratically with people standing out of them shrugging and gesticulating in what appeared to be similar frustration (I didn’t get out to chat myself, given the reason we were all there...). Phoned DH who called the NHS only to be told that site didn’t exist on that day!

Luckily I knew of a different site so just went there instead and they let me in to test DD there but I’m sure other would have just gone home, either not knowing there was an alternative venue 15 mins away or assuming they wouldn’t be able to go there without a correct appointment.

With testing requirements increasing every day how on earth is this going to pan out - if testing isn’t simple and accessible some people just aren’t going to bother!
