COVID and early years settings

Hi, just wanting to hear people’s experiences of how coughs, temperatures etc. are being dealt with in early years settings.

We are term time only in childcare as my husband is a teacher. So my daughter (3) went back to the childminder for six weeks or so before the holidays and is heading back next week along with my son (11 months.) She’s doing half the week in nursery and half at the childminder.

Before the holidays she had to be tested twice for COVID in the space of three weeks. Two separate coughs. Both negative. The whole situation was pretty disruptive. DH had to take a day off work (which his school had to race around finding cover for) and I had to stay home and lose money (I work for myself.)

I met my friend and her little ones yesterday who have been in childcare the whole time and she says their nursery don’t send kids home or to get tested for coughs.

I posted about this on MN before the summer so apologies. I guess I’m just keen to know if the situation has changed!

It feels like we could be off every week as my little ones pick everything up!
