Really worried that I might have it

Home tests were sent off yesterday. Now waiting for the results.
I’m so anxious.
I’m overweight, so I know my risk for complications is much higher (I’m a dress size 20-22).
I’m also a female and 31 years old, so I’m hoping that goes in my favour.
My blood group is A+ and I heard As we’re more impacted.

Can anyone reassure me?

Symptoms have been:
Sneezing
Very bunged up, barely able to breathe out of my nose
A very sore throat
A cough that developed a day or so after first symptoms
A low grade temperature (37.8-38)
Chills
Body aches.

My toddler had it first and it was continually sneezing for him, followed by lots of snot and being very whingey and tired.

TheoriginalLEM · 04/09/2020 23:38

Sounds like a cold, i hope you feel better soon x

tenlittlecygnets · 04/09/2020 23:39

Sneezing and snot are not standard symptoms. Sounds like a cold.

Mummyto3gorgeousgirlies · 04/09/2020 23:40

Good luck - hopefully negative but if positive hopefully this will be the worst of it for you - sending good wishes xx

CokeyCola · 04/09/2020 23:42

You're young, I'm sure you would be fine.

BettyBoop89 · 04/09/2020 23:44

Thank you.
It’s rhe cough and slight fever/chills that worried me.

How long have you been coughing for?

How's your sense of smell?

How's your breathing?

Bellebelle · 04/09/2020 23:47

It does sound a lot more like a cold than Covid but remember that even if it is at your age there’s still a very very small chance that you would become seriously ill with it even if you are overweight.

HairyFloppins · 04/09/2020 23:47

Sounds like a cold. We all had it the other week.

I'm the same size as you. Age is on your side.

Hope test comes back negative.

Carbonarawprawns · 05/09/2020 00:17

I had it the other month, tested positive.

For me it was just like a cold and one of the least debilitating illnesses I've had.

I'm a tad overweight, I smoke and I have a compromised immune system as I'm a recent sepsis survivor. I thought I would be a goner if I caught covid, quite the opposite.

Had it not been for the need to quarantine I could have gone about my business as normal.

My partner had it and was asymptomatic, my baby was a bit grumpy for a day and my toddler just had a high temp for a few hours which we managed to bring down with one dose of calpol then he was fine.

Don't panic Smile

Nannylp · 05/09/2020 00:21

Easier said than done but try not to worry. My understanding is that being snotty and bunged up makes covid very unlikely. I believe its usually a high fever rather than a mild one too.
Get on the night nurse and have a cosy rest in bed. Try and look after yourself.
I hope you're feeling better soon

sorryforswearing · 05/09/2020 01:53

I can really understand your anxiety. I feel the same and I’m a teacher and vulnerable so not feeling safe at work. Fingers crossed for you. 🤞Let us know your result.

BettyBoop89 · 05/09/2020 05:57

@AmelieTaylor
I’ve been coughing since Wednesday.

I couldn’t smell anything on the first day but I was so blocked up I believe it was that, but it may have been Covid, I can smell things now. It was only one day of not being able to.

I feel like I can’t breathe sometimes, but I think it’s anxiety as I’ve had it before. But I have an oximeter and my oxygen levels are between 96 and 99% all the time.

@Carbonarawprawns were you snotty/blocked up with it and sneezing?

OP posts:
Mammaaof · 05/09/2020 06:06

@BettyBoop89 ive had the exact same all week, my body was throbbing at one point. Test was negative! Just a bad cold probably because i havent had one for over 6 months

lovelemoncurd · 05/09/2020 06:10

I've had it. The breathing problem doesn't develop until day 9 ish. I didn't get a sore throat or even a high temp. My hubby and I were admitted to hospital day 9 and 10.

It sounds like you have a cold.

NotTerfNorCis · 05/09/2020 06:22

lovelemoncurd what were the first symptoms you had and how did it progress?

Mammaaof · 05/09/2020 06:23

@lovelemoncurd don't think you can say what day things develop on when everyone gets it differently 🤔

KitKatastrophe · 05/09/2020 06:31

The breathing problem doesn't develop until day 9 ish
For you that was the case. Many people dont develop "the breathing problem" at all, so let's not worry OP unduly.
OP you probably have a cold but if you do have covid the high likelihood is that you will be fine. Even if you are hospitalised (highly unlikely), you are in a very low risk group and will almost certainly be OK.

lovelemoncurd · 05/09/2020 06:33

@Mammaaof read about the progression of the virus then. That's why I said ...ish!

lovelemoncurd · 05/09/2020 06:36

@KitKatastrophe I was trying to explain that her breathing problem was less likely to be CV because it develops later not now as she is stating. I'm well aware of how symptoms develop and how varied they are I'm a respiratory nurse. I put enough people on CPAP during the height of this pandemic to know!

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 05/09/2020 06:39

isolate and order a test op.
regardless practice social distancing.

Mammaaof · 05/09/2020 06:39

@lovelemoncurd thats strange because my mother in law tested positive and didn't have any breathing problems at all Hmm

RowboatsinDisguise · 05/09/2020 06:41

I’ve just had what sounds like the same cold. I’m still coughing 10 days after I started to feel unwell! It was hideous. Two negative Covid swabs say it was definitely just a cold though.
