Really worried that I might have it

Home tests were sent off yesterday. Now waiting for the results.
I’m so anxious.
I’m overweight, so I know my risk for complications is much higher (I’m a dress size 20-22).
I’m also a female and 31 years old, so I’m hoping that goes in my favour.
My blood group is A+ and I heard As we’re more impacted.

Can anyone reassure me?

Symptoms have been:
Sneezing
Very bunged up, barely able to breathe out of my nose
A very sore throat
A cough that developed a day or so after first symptoms
A low grade temperature (37.8-38)
Chills
Body aches.

My toddler had it first and it was continually sneezing for him, followed by lots of snot and being very whingey and tired.

@lovelemoncurd if your well aware that it varies then you wouldn't have said what you said, as saying it develops on day 9ish that suggests it doesn't vary!

lovelemoncurd · 05/09/2020 06:42

@Mammaaof ffs you're missing my point.

The op said she had breathing problems.
I said it's probably a cold as on the timeline for the CV breathing problems come later on.

I think the op is worried about hospitalisation.

I'm well aware some people coughed once and tested positive.

lovelemoncurd · 05/09/2020 06:44

Just get a test op. You can come on these sites and be told this and that by people who don't know diddly but it makes not a jot of difference. The only way you will know is a test.

Mammaaof · 05/09/2020 06:45

@lovelemoncurd your missing my point. Some people get breathing problems from the start, some right at the end. You can't say no its a cold because its not day 9. How ridiculous.

stayathomer · 05/09/2020 06:45

Op whether it is or not take care and do not panic. I had covid and you have to take everything step by step. Loads of water is all I can say and rest (I cant explain this but your body feels like it really needs water all the time). Honestly a lot more people are coming out of this, especially now as they know so much more. I agree with the snot etc hopefully it is something else that water, vitamin c, paracetamol and rest can fix. Flowers

Mammaaof · 05/09/2020 06:45

@lovelemoncurd exactly 'know diddly' so stop saying about timelines when you haven't even seen the OP that's even if you are a bloody nurse

FippertyGibbett · 05/09/2020 07:15

It sounds more like a cold. It’s that time of year unfortunately !
🤞🏻

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 05/09/2020 07:18

it doesnt matter what internet strangers feel about whether or not it is covid.
same precautions needed regardless.

BettyBoop89 · 05/09/2020 07:19

@lovelemoncurd thank you. I’ve done a test, as I said in the original post it’s been sent off, now awaiting the results, god knows how long these will take?!

And I am self isolating.
Although starting to run out of food, haven’t got a food shop coming until next week, so not sure what to do. All this is a nightmare. I just hope my results come back soon.

Order a click and collect or can a friend bring some food? Tesco near me have loads of slots at the mo. Good luck x

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 05/09/2020 08:03

my results were so quick, less than 12 hours.

yarncakes · 05/09/2020 08:16

I had the same symptoms 2w ago and turns out it was a cold as I had a neg result. I recovered after 5 days.

Carbonarawprawns · 05/09/2020 08:40
@Carbonarawprawns were you snotty/blocked up with it and sneezing?
@BettyBoop89 I was yes, I thought it was allergies to begin with.

picklemewalnuts · 05/09/2020 08:50

@BettyBoop89 don't panic about food.

Results are usually pretty quick so if your test comes back negative you'll be able to shop.

Why don't you make a list of a few essentials that will tide you over if it is positive, and work out who you can ask or where will deliver?

It's easier to plan for the worst so you don't need to get anxious.

Silversun83 · 05/09/2020 09:24

Also sounds like a cold to me too. Remember people did cough with illnesses before Covid!

Augustbreeze · 05/09/2020 11:50

Or if there's nobody who can shop for you get the number of yr local volunteer service, they'll shop for someone isolating, that's the kind of thing they exist for.

cardibach · 05/09/2020 11:55

I know this is anecdata But I’m A+ and a size 20 and had a reasonably mild case in April. I’m also 55. If you are young and otherwise healthy I wouldn’t worry too much even if it is covid and not a cold.

GreyishDays · 05/09/2020 11:59

Can you move your food delivery slot to be sooner?

amicissimma · 05/09/2020 15:16

Apparently the loss of smell with Covid is very different to how it is with a cold. More like it being switched off.

Although it sounds like a cold, and there are a lot going around at the moment, please keep in mind that for the most overweight, older people with pre-existing conditions who get Covid the chances that they will be ill enough to need hospitalisation, never mind ICU, are still very low.

Be wary of statistics: many of them are percentage of people who die with Covid (not that many out of 67 millions of us) having that characteristic, not how many people with that characteristic will die of Covid IYSWIM.

stayathomer · 05/09/2020 16:41

And I am self isolating.
Although starting to run out of food, haven’t got a food shop coming until next week, so not sure what to do.

If you can ring a local shop, order a few bits and pay by card. It is amazing how lovely the small shops are when they hear someone needs help.

CCSS15 · 05/09/2020 16:55

Try taking dioralyte - i found it really helped with the feeling like my body needed more and more fluid although of course continue drinking lots of flyids too

Randominternetbitch · 05/09/2020 19:29

Hmm, it sounds like you might have Pneumonic plague to me.

MyNameWas · 05/09/2020 20:00

I’m anxious about COVID too so understand how you feel. Get some rest and keep your fluids up. Make sure you are monitoring your temperature. Try to listen or if you can watch something which will take your mind off the test results and COVID for now..fingers crossed the test results are a negative

Candyflossrainbow · 05/09/2020 21:18

My temperature is 36.5.
My oxygen is between 97 and 99%. I have my own oximeter.
