What symptoms made you test?

What symptoms made you take a test?

We've been following guidelines, DH is a keyworker so has always worked through lockdown, we wear masks and practice social distancing etc.

I've come down with some weird symptoms over the past three day's:

Headaches, long and lasting all day and night (similar to a migraine but not as bad) paracetamol not relieving the tension.

Aches and feeling cold, generally feeling rubbish and tired. Yesterday the sore throat started.

Today, I've woke up with all of the above but with a seriously stabbing sore throat, struggling to talk. I was slightly short of breath last night, but sometimes I feel like that when I'm anxious. Propped myself up and managed to sleep fairly well. Hot and cold flashes too

DH has said I should get a test, and is confused if we should isolate?

I don't think I have a temperature but currently rooting through my meds cabinet for the thermometer to check, though I don't feel hot to touch as nhs website states

I think it's just a head cold, but DH is worried and now I'm starting to worry. Can you have covid without a temperature?

Basically asking what symptoms lead you to test? I don't want to waste resources if I have a cold but I also don't want to be negligent

I had a headache (horrendous, went on for days), shivery (but no temp - checked with thermometer), achey and overwhelming fatigue, but the oddest symptom was a widespread red blotchy rash over my entire body. In fact the rash started first and I had that about a week before the other symptoms. I didnt think about testing origninally but rang the GP due to concern about the rash (which was VVV itchy) and they suggested a test. I am also an NHS clinician so was off work, and at the time they were encouraging everyone with and without symptoms in my area to get tested. So me and dh got a test. They were negative.

In the UK the list of testable symptoms is very (deliberately) short.

In your case, given it doesn't feel like a regular cold and you are getting hot flashes, I would say get a test. Hot and cold flashes are indicative of 'fever'.

I'd be concerned about any feeling of being unable to breathe and would keep a very close eye on that. I'd already be isolating in the household in the hope other family members dodge it.

I hope it is ok and comes back negative Flowers

Still can't find my thermometer to check temperature but I don't feel hot to touch, so hopefully I don't have a temperature

Just test OP. Every symptom you have is relevant. Don't waste time.

Agree with this. You don't need thermometer confirmation, you have said you have fever symptoms.

Will get a test ASAP

I took my temperature and it's normal, DH still heading to work tonight as he doesn't think it's corona 🙄 I'll still get a test

I only had a sore throat. Test was positive

Multipack5678 · 03/09/2020 15:09

I had a fever. No other symptoms. The test was negative.

ChanceEncounter · 03/09/2020 15:33

And that's the bloody trouble with Covid, it is so hard to find!

TheDayAfterTomorrow · 03/09/2020 15:54

I had my test today at 2pm, DH is isolating with me until results come back.

My throat is so sore and red, feeling achey and generally crap.

I really struggled to do the test myself with the tonsils, was very uncomfortable and kept gagging. Hopefully it's still the correct result because I'm not entirely sure I reached my tonsil properly.

I think the chills , headache and sore throat combined are suspicious for cv. Those were my symptoms, plus diarrhoea.

Lilybet1980 · 04/09/2020 00:05

The symptom tracker app would suggest a test. DP has done two now based on the symptom tracker recommendation. First after headaches, second after upset stomach. We didn’t isolate because he didn’t have any of the core symptoms for which we are told to isolate. Both tests negative.

TheDayAfterTomorrow · 04/09/2020 09:44

Hi guys, test was negative. I still feel really poorly so think it's just a virus so now we aren't isolating as test is negative

Glad your test was negative. Sorry you are feeling poorly still. I'm practically back to normal today (day 6 for me today). Just goes to show that you can't second guess Coronavirus

janaus50s · 04/09/2020 14:30

Australia here ... Victoria is in a bad place. We are being told at the first sign of any symptoms, no matter how mild they are, to take a test.
Mild sore throat here, so I got tested straight away. 24 hour wait to find it was negative.
Glad I didn’t wait. Possibly spreading virus to family, and anyone I happened to come across.

ProfessorPootle · 04/09/2020 14:41

I had sore throat, fatigue, mild cough, temperature. It was the temperature and cough that made me check the online symptom checker. Dr rang me back from that and told me to get a test. It was negative.

BooseysMom · 04/09/2020 15:06

I've got a sore throat, chills (they're multiplying..sorry!!), a mild cough and i ache all over. I'm not going to see my 83 yo DF just in case

BooseysMom · 04/09/2020 15:31

My temp is only 35.7 though!!

Jontysmum · 04/09/2020 16:44

@BooseysMom I had a positive test on Monday. My temperature hasn't gone over 36.1 all week. I feel totally fine now. You can't tell anything from symptoms.

BooseysMom · 04/09/2020 19:17

Jontysmum... bloody hell! I'd better get tested asap. How are you now?

BooseysMom · 04/09/2020 19:17

Sorry just re-read your post. That's great news you are ok x

Jontysmum · 04/09/2020 20:22

Thank you 😁. Yes it was a massive shock to get the text and email saying it was positive. I'm obviously isolating. Just doing a load of washing and tidying to fill the time. It's not how I imagined COVID to be

BooseysMom · 04/09/2020 20:33

I bet you were shocked!! Could you still smell and taste stuff?

indie92 · 04/09/2020 20:33

lost my taste and smell very suddenly
