It's like Manchester, but up to 8 people from 3 different houses can meet in pubs / cafe's restaurants

Im in Scotland but not in any of the areas this is affecting.
No one is going to take the slightes bit of notice when pubs etc are still open.

Morfin · 01/09/2020 21:12

Have you seen the report?? It's only caught in houses. Definitely not work and definitely definitely definitely not schools!

I spotted the 'mostly been driven by community transmission' - Mostly...

They do all love their 'very small number(s)' 'very small risk' don't they!

I'm meant to be staying in a hotel in Glasgow this Friday...I'm not very sure whether this will still be allowed or not? Confused

MaxNormal · 01/09/2020 21:50

@Babybee88 yes you'll be fine, it just relates to going into people's houses.

Interesting, IF Glasgow rates become higher than France then should you quarrantine on return? It's all a farce now.

Shitfuckoh I'm watching on Sky, didn't see the 'mainly'

I have relatives who live in Glasgow and they were meant to be taking my DM out for dinner on Saturday. She lives in a different part of Scotland. She has decided not to meet them even though it is probably allowed as she is elderly and vulnerable. It seems odd you can go out to pubs and restaurants but be not meet in homes. Makes no sense to me.

When this has been explained in the last for similar rules the explanation has been that you are more likely to get to close/hug/whatever in a private space than in public.

Too close*

Californiabakes · 01/09/2020 22:26

I’m in Glasgow. I’m supposed to be going to another part of Scotland to some outdoor research on Friday. I was to be staying with another person, which I know isn’t allowed under the new rules, but could I camp or stay somewhere else on my own (unlikely to find anywhere to stay) ? Is this allowed do you think?

Graciebobcat · 01/09/2020 22:44

How on earth do they know it is being transmitted by people visiting family and not the pub, school or work? They don't. Restrictions like this make no sense when most things are open.

Glasgow City: local measures
Following an increase in coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the West of Scotland, additional restrictions have been introduced for people living in Glasgow City, East Renfrewshire and West Dunbartonshire.

The below restrictions apply to the Glasgow City Council area. If you are unsure if this applies, you can use this postcode lookup facility to check your local authority.

The restrictions will be introduced for an initial 2 week period from midnight on 1 September 2020, and reviewed in 7 days.

Indoor gatherings
People living in the City of Glasgow, West Dunbartonshire and East Renfrewshire local authority areas should not meet with people from another household inside their private home.

Members of different households can continue to meet outdoors, including in gardens, and in hospitality settings, provided all existing guidance on meeting outdoors is followed.

Those who have formed an extended household can continue to meet indoors with enhanced hygiene measures in place.

Where one part of an extended household, for example the person who lives alone, lives outside of the three council areas they can continue to meet other households indoors so long as they are not in the restricted area. All parts of an extended household must isolate if advised to do so.

People who are providing care or essential support such as delivering shopping can continue to make visits, but should pay attention to all hygiene precautions.

If people are already in the area visiting family or on holiday then they do not need to leave but are asked to follow the recommendations in this guidance and take extra care when returning home.

However, where people are intending to use self-catering accommodation with different households from affected areas but which are booked in unaffected areas, they should not do so.^

Redolent · 01/09/2020 22:47

Apparently it’s people having house parties rather than small family visits. The types of people holding these gatherings are unlikely to be deterred by the new guidance.

Californiabakes · 01/09/2020 22:55

I could self cater alone in a tent but I guess I wouldn’t be able to use the facilities if a campsite. It doesn’t seem to be against the rules to camp alone? Not that it sounds like much fun though!

Pixel7777 · 02/09/2020 10:00

My friend says she is not surprised that this has happened as very busy in Glasgow recently? But it is here down south as well, with tourists.

I'm totally pissed off. It's a total farce. I can be exposed to 700 households everyday, with 30 kids at a time not in masks and not social distancing yet for my DSs birthday today my sister can't come for cake and a cuppa. I'm bloody livid and I've had enough!
