Can you cancel a home test?

My DH woke with a blocked and runny nose this morning. He immediately went online and booked a test. He hasn’t got a temperature, cough or loss of taste and smell.
I feel really bad as someone else may need the rest and my stupid DH has ordered one although he doesn’t need it.

I had this problem and could find no way of cancelling the test.

I have seen threads about this on twitter and I think no way to cancel. TBH there are def more tests available than people that need tests at the moment so I don't think you're denying someone else from a test. I got one for my DS for similar reasons. He was a bit 'off' but didn't have any of the main three symptoms. We were in a lockdown area though.

Anyway if you can't cancel it and I don't think you can I'd just get him to do it.

@TOFO1965 can I ask what you did when it arrived?

@Frazzled2207 because he doesn’t have Covid symptoms we both need to be at work from tomorrow. If he sends off a test, would we not be able to go?

I wouldn't have thought he would need to isolate if he doesn't have Covid symptoms. I also don't think you need to feel bad about the test; I don't think they're in short supply at the moment.

It might be a bit of a wake up call though; unless it's a hay fever type thing. Does he know where he picked it up?

TOFO1965 · 01/09/2020 11:42

I’ve done nothing with it. I haven’t binned it either, was wondering if I can activate it if I do develop symptoms.

Toddlerteaplease · 01/09/2020 11:45

I don't think if he's waiting for test results that he could go to work. I had a cold a couple of weeks ago. (No Covid symptoms) and didn't get tested for that reason. Pretty sure it was rhino virus as we all caught it from a patient.

Can I ask if your DH just lied on the online form? My DH has a stinky cold but also has a sore throat (not one of the key symptoms). We filled in on line form for test, saying he had a cough (he doesn’t) but in the end he didn’t feel comfortable agreeing to the final declaration.

Frazzled2207 · 01/09/2020 13:00

@Verite You don’t have to lie. The questionnaire asks you if you have one of the three main symptoms you can click no and it will still let you order one.

Frazzled2207 · 01/09/2020 13:00

Unless the system has changed very recently that is

Verite1 · 01/09/2020 13:09

Oh really??? I didn’t realise that. I thought you had to confirm you had one of the symptoms in order to order a test. Thanks for that info - makes a big difference!
