Fine in himself, no temp.
Had first day back at burst a couple of days ago.
Do I need to get him a test?

Sneezing is not a coronavirus symptom

LilyPond2 · 30/08/2020 11:43

I've just had a look at the Zoe app list of symptoms which they produced in July and which is much more comprehensive than the government's ridiculously short list of "official" symptoms. However, even the Zoe people don't list sneezing as a symptom, so I wouldn't get a test if that's his only symptom.

No

vodkaredbullgirl · 30/08/2020 11:46

no

No. Kids going back to school and getting the sniffles is the reason why the testing centres are overwhelmed in Scotland. High temp, a new continuous cough or a loss of taste or smell are the only reasons you should go for a test.

Granolaslice · 30/08/2020 13:20

What about a snotty nose?

OP, this link from the Zoe app people has a list of symptoms identified as being associated with Covid, in rough order of how predictive they are. Doesn't mention a snotty nose.

I recently posted similar and I didn't test, if my kids develop coughs, fevers or lose their taste/smell then I will test, not for anything else or I will be testing all winter.

Schools in my local area have been causing chaos by sending kids home for all sorts of reasons then demanding they are tested before returning. So a child can go home complaining of a sore tummy or runny nose and the school is demanding that they are tested before they (or any siblings) can return.

HeresMe · 30/08/2020 16:29

Sounds more like hayfever to me, or a cold not Covid.

sleepyhead · 30/08/2020 16:42

We've had a letter home from the school, issued by the local Health Board reiterating that you should get a test for the three main symptoms and not for a snotty nose.

Return to school has caused the usual sniffles to return with a vengeance but it's not covid.

Pebblexox · 30/08/2020 16:43

No, sneezing/snotty nose is not a symptom for Covid.

EachDubh · 30/08/2020 20:15

There is a nasty cold going around our lical area, very snotty, only cough is from nasal dripbso rare. No temps but feeling rotten. My 2 have had it a, were off school because they felt awful but didn't need tested as no covid symptoms. However 1 child in my class who has it was in school and sneezed all over me last week 🙄🤢😷 and my weekend off has been spent ill, the joys of bugs, colds and snot!

Bubbletrouble43 · 30/08/2020 20:24

I've been sneezing like mad every day pretty much for weeks. Allergies. Not listed as a covid symptom.
