Advice on self isolating within house

PurpleDandelions · 29/08/2020 22:30

I'm about to have major surgery that will require me to isolate from my husband and kids for 3 months post surgery.

We're lucky that our house is big enough for me to have my own bedroom and bathroom.

Any practical tips on how to make this work?
Kids are both young teens. Younger one is still super huggy so this will be hard.

That sounds really tough!

Maybe matching blankets for the kids and you? So you can curl up in yours on one chair and them on the sofa, like a virtual hug. My kids are younger so maybe that’s a stupid idea though.

we already have matching blankets Smile
and that is a lovely idea!

What about those plastic hugging curtains that old people’s homes used.
Also one of the old people’s homes near us built a shed Next to a window with a telephone either side. Maybe something similar- you and talk and see each other bit no touch or droplet issues. Sounds odd but it was a bit like in those films when people are in prison.
Ply words with friends ? Or Uno - using iPads. Or online quiz using zoom

What does your doctor suggest? How isolated do you need to be?

We're potentially facing something similar and it's stressful.

Thanks. The iPad games are a great suggestion. I have lots of board games on mine so I'll see what I can set up to play with multiple players.

Can you do Zoom/Facetime calls on ipads between rooms so you can all see and talk to each other while you're having dinner or watchin a movie or just come in from school.
