Testing on children

My 4 yo has a runny nose and has developed a temperature of 38.1-I’ve given calpol and she is asleep now but temperature going down as expected with the calpol. I’ve booked a drive in test for tomorrow, I have 2 other children who like me have got the start of a runny nose cold. But obviously want to rule it out and hopefully it’s just a cold. I’m now worrying that maybe I’ve done it too early and myself and the other two aren’t showing the main 3 symptoms but it let me book us. Do the people do the test on the children or do I have to?

The confirmation email should tell you but mostly I think it’s self testing and parents do it for the children, that’s how ours were. And under 5s test was nostril only not throat as well

We did it this morning-all self test the children were great after they watched me do mine it’s just a bit weird on their tonsils-They said it’s not essential for the younger ones to have the tonsil one but I thought I’d try and it was ok so then did the nostril. I’m certain it’s not but just want to be absolutely sure before we meet anyone else and they go back to school etc.

You’re a legend most wouldn’t bother. This should be encouraged. I wish there was clear protocol for kids symptoms, colds coughs etc now were returning to school.

We had to do our two boys 3 weeks ago and they both have runny noses and no temps again not sure I can put them through that again but it will be like this all
Winter

It’s a really tough decision, I just don’t know how we can survive the schooling over winter and having to make those judgements to test them! I had a message at 6am-negative which is reassuring.
