and the bloody stick was impossible to snap!

You have to break the stick in half to fit it in the tube. Apparently they have a weak spot to enable this, so I did the test, snapped my stick, not easy, went to put it in the tube and it was still too long to fit the lid. I then spent 5 minutes trying to snap another 5mm off, it's not allowed to be too short either so really tricky, so no doubt I've now contaminated the sample.

Either I'm really weak, I got a dud, or a design flaw? Anyone else had the same problem?

Ours were the same.. I actually bent mine a bit trying to get the lid back on..
Probs gonna get rejected.. 🙈

Absolutely - bloody nightmare it was! I had mine and 3dc to do. Was so stressed and convinced they were going to come back inconclusive. Was Ok in the end, all negative but there must be a better design!

Mugofsteaminghottea · 28/08/2020 17:16

Happened to me too. Came back negative in the end despite me also thinking I would have invalidated it. Not a great design

Maybe a bad batch? Mine snapped ok, but then took 75 hours to get result ☹️

Mine was ok to snap but puked when tried to touch back of mouth.
Does anyone know how long the results take for home test? We posted ours on Wednesday evening

Exactly what happened to me with DS' test stick. Initially hard to snap but managed to do so and it was fractionally too bloody long, so bent slightly like one of the pictures with the big x against it, so then spent another bloody age trying to snap off about 3mm. Got there in the end, but it was not easy. I never found a weak break point.

I had same problems but the last time I had a test the instructions had changed to tell you to break it off shorter, ie when the swab reaches to just above the red liquid.

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 28/08/2020 17:29

Mine snapped easily, iirc. But the whole thing makes one so nervous it's hard to do anything properly.

Glad it wasn't just me, thought I must have been doing something wrong, but then couldn't really think of an alternative way of snapping a stick in half Confused

I'm worried about this too. But worried the stick is too short. I followed the advice on the YouTube video instructions and the stick broke off easily, however then I saw in the instruction book that it mustn't be too short and mine did look a bit short, but too late to do anything! Now anxiously awaiting the result.
