Test Results

We had the test yesterday at a drive through centre. DS2 got his results today but the rest of us are still waiting. Is there a cut off for texts or could I still get one late at night?
I am supposed to be at work tomorrow but can’t go without the all clear!

Just dont go in tomorrow and that is that.

It's a ball ache isn't it! I had a sore chest and a cough so I thought I better go and get tested yesterday. Consequently, DH couldn't go to work, I had to cancel my nails and physio app (😫) and DS's couldn't go out with their friends .. I got my negative result at 1.30 today so life is back to normal now.

It’s been 48 hours since my test and no result. I only got tested as Zoe app suggested it, my symptoms are luckily not the Covid ones so I’m not isolating (although haven’t been out for last few days as working and feel a bit crap).

If they’re expecting kids to stay of school with every sniffle this testing is going to have to improve!

I'm in same boat. Got tested with son yesterday afternoon at 3pm. Had really hoped to hear by now. He's missing a sports camp he was enjoying. But guess it's what we have to do.

ScarlettDarling · 27/08/2020 20:25

My son is snotty and has developed a bit of a cough. Common sense says that he's got a cough because of the snot, not Covid, but being responsible people we decided to get him tested. Turns out there were no appointments at the drive in places near us so we had to get a test delivered to the house. We've got to wait 2-4 days for results by which time we'll have been stuck at home for the best part of a week. If this happens every time one of us gets a cold, we'll never be at work or school.

Sorry op, no help but totally understand your frustration.

Jules2011 · 27/08/2020 20:27

Yes this is going to be life for a while!

Getting that swab down my son’s neck was no fun! Mind you getting it up my nose was a mission, I didn’t realise what a ticklish nostril I had Grin

Its a pain. It's going to be a fun winter.

I can understand keeping kids off with a cold at the mo ,but really there’s no need to isolate generally with a cold, without cough or fever etc.

I’m a bit confused about the children and schools though, if they have a cold and we test them and it’s negative, can they go back in with that same cold if it’s v mild? Eg dd always gets a long running cough after a cold, for weeks. Surely they wouldn’t expect her to stay off? I think I’d do the test Via her phone so she can show the negative result to each teacher !

eeeyoresmiles · 27/08/2020 20:42

If people can keep kids with colds off it would be helpful, to reduce how much that particualr cold spreads, and stop family after family locally having to get tests for that same cold as it spreads around causing slight fevers in some people, coughs and so on.

Jules2011 · 27/08/2020 20:48

It’s difficult as children constantly have coughs and colds, those bugs are still about.

@eeeyoresmiles is right, we will just keep going around in circles with other kids catching a cold and being tested!

It's going to be a tough winter. I seem to get one cold after another in the winter months, and often have a cough that lasts for weeks. I know it's meant to be a new cough, but sometimes that's hard to be sure of exactly what that is!

yummychoccy · 27/08/2020 20:57

I had results at 3am (emailed, and then a text at 6am).

Jules2011 · 27/08/2020 21:02

@yummychoccy oh you give me hope! My son needs to be somewhere tomorrow and he is pretty gutted as he is in the clear!
