Track and trace - pubs and restaurants

This might sound a stupid question, but if I went out for a meal and someone in the same restaurant on the same night tested positive, would I then get contacted by track and trace and have to self-isolate for 14 days? I haven’t eaten in anywhere since they’ve re-opened, as I worry about having to end up self-isolating and not even being able to go for a walk. Is it only people you sit near, or anyone in the place?

Yes you would

Not necessarily. EHO are looking at restaurants. If it’s a good place following distancing, enhanced procedures etc and they can see little chance of spread then no, you wouldn’t.

If it’s clear the business is question is rule breaking then yes you would.

@AhGoGo That makes sense, as if it’s someone on the other side of the restaurant then that’s no higher risk than going to the supermarket surely. You won’t have been in close contact with them at all.
