Number of masks needed for a school day

Considering this question as DD4 goes into her PGCE year! How many would masks your DC need for travelling around the site on an average school day? DS4 calculates that for many, bus to school, to form, to first lesson, to second lesson, to break, from break, to third lesson, to lunch, to fourth, to final class and then on the bus home means that some DC could end up needing 11 masks. Obviously disposable ones are bad for the planet, and also, how will DC store so many?
I’m very pro-mask, but realise many DC will reuse used ones, possibly making the risk worse- how would/will your DC prepare?

My DS high school has said (prev to Boris announcement yesterday) that but masks can be worn by both teachers and pupils if they choose too but they aren't mandatory. Ds walks to school so shouldn't need 1 but ill make sure he has 1 just in case, ill leave it up to him if he chooses to wear it or not.

I've just witnessed a group of teenagers waiting at the bus stop using their masks to whip each other with and trying use them like catapults 🙈

One day historians will pore over threads like this, marvelling at the complete, utter madness.

@Devlesko this might be of interest from WHO:

Using a fabric mask:*
• Clean your hands before putting on the mask.
• Inspect the mask for tears or holes, do not use a mask that is damaged.
• Adjust the mask to cover your mouth, nose, and chin, leaving no gaps on the sides.
• Avoid touching the mask while wearing it.
• Change your mask if it gets dirty or wet.
• Clean your hands before taking off the mask.
• Take off the mask by removing it from the ear loops, without touching the front of the mask.
• Clean your hands after removing the mask.
Caring for a fabric mask:
• If your fabric mask is not dirty or wet and you plan to reuse it, put it in a clean plastic, resealable bag. If you need to use it again, hold the mask at the elastic loops when removing it from the bag.
• Wash fabric masks in soap or detergent and preferably hot water (at least 60 degrees) at least once a day.
• If hot water is not available, wash the mask in soap/detergent and room-temperature water, followed by either boiling the mask for 1 minute OR; by soaking the mask in 0.1% chlorine for 1 minute and thoroughly rinsing the mask with room temperature water (there should not be any toxic residue of chlorine on the mask).
• Make sure you have your own mask and do not share it with others.

When and how to use masks
Remember, the use of a fabric mask alone is not sufficient to provide an adequate level of protection. Maintain a minimum physical distance of at least 1 metre from others and frequently clean your hands.

Why do people keep saying " tick boxing?"

It's ," box ticking!"

‘once a half term’ is a joke I did not say as a joke.

You should assume everyone is as "grubby" and "wrong" as my family & keep a large distance accordingly. We will all be happier that way.

If people only wash things every half term people will be keeping you at a distance but it won't be because of COVID
