DH was going to visit them this week but as we are now in local lockdown he isn't. He was going to make (he's a designer so good at this kind of thing!) a WWII style red cross parcel and we are making a list of ideas to go in it. As we are not going, it will have to be posted. MIL doesn't use anything 'smelly' so toiletries are out (which is a shame as we have some lovely shops locally). On the list so far are: Two books they'd enjoy, some loo roll, a tin of corned beef, some biscuits and possibly cheese (or they'd be biscuits to go with tea) and some chocolates.

That's so far but more ideas would be great!

Good leaf tea - finest Darjeeling if they like it.
Magazines.
Something made with real wool - gloves, scarf or socks. Yes I know there's a heatwave on, but just the spirit of the thing!
What about a pretty Japanese fan - for the heatwave!

I read about these candles today - scent of greenhouse sounds lovely. They are also raising money for a covid charity by making ones that smell like the pub etc but they are a bit expensive!

I also like giving personalised writing paper/notebooks etc from Papier. They have some wonderful things - www.papier.com/stationery/

I also really like the idea of these rolling pins with dogs etc on although I'm not sure how often you’d use one -

My parents very much enjoyed a crossword book I sent. Magazines, stamps, books, photos of the family. New slippers.
