Would you be OK with this return to work?

I work on a large site with lots of buildings

Returned to work yesterday - told to take ID badge as only those on the list for each building would be allowed in.

Nobody checking, no idea how many were in each building. Meeting in 1, assigned to work in another

1 toilet open for our 3 floor building. We have to use the disabled toilet, men and women. It's not been cleaned since March. No toilet roll and it literally had shit pebble dashed up the bowl and on the rim. Reported to cleaning team but not actioned.

Work computers not working, they were hoping we'd bring our own laptop from home. Some had, i hadn't as I didnt know. Laptops are personal, not work issued and ds was using ours at home

It's a job we could do from home.

What are the Covid measures in place?
How do you know the toilets haven't been cleaned since March?
Have you asked why you weren't told you would need to provide your own laptop?

Bridecilla · 18/08/2020 10:21

Covid measures are arrow stickers on the floor

We were the first team in. Shit could have been from last week but looks like longer.

No desks moved to accommodate distance, we have a big Estates team but we had to sort out the office with a tape measure and move the desks. Hopefully we've done it correctly but I'm not certain.

Managers all have work issued laptops so no thought put in for IT - we have an IT team.

Nope. I’d kick off completely about all of that. We are only allowed in specific parts of the building and by arrangement only (any exemptions are pre-agreed so arrangements can be made to deep clean after), toilets are on enhanced cleaning and we have been advised that laptops provided by the organisation are to be brought in.

That's awful, OP.
I also work for a multi-building employer.
I'm supposed to WFH but I don't have a set up at home while all DC are here & no budget to get me equipment = (desk, docking station, laptop, ethernet ...)
At the actual site:
IT are not available, sigh. Was like this pre-covid, tbf.
Our loos are still many & clean.
We have lots of daft arrows everywhere and closed off kitchens and too many rules to remember.
There is a sign in system (optional, tbf)

I guess things can only improve where you are.

We've put together a list of concerns. It really is shit, nowhere has been cleaned since we shut down.

No!
Not specifically because of Covid but just because it's disgusting!

Why haven't the buildings been prepared, eg cleaned? Has your building been closed since March? If so, have Estates flushed through the hot water system and checked the fire safety systems? That's what our Estates department have been doing - the hot water thing is because there's a risk of legionella if the water has been standing for too long.

And why aren't the computers working?

No idea about the water or fire but have added them to my list to ask. Buildings have been shut with the odd say open for people to pick things up

Computers seem to be linked to wrong networks. IT were totally unhelpful

Not helped, in my opinion, by people making do and bringing in their own laptops. Makes them think they don't have to solve our problems
