If your DC has had a positive COVID test, how did things go ??

I'm concerned about my DCs return to school, and don't have anyone to talk to or run things past.

I have sisters but they are busy with their marriages and young families and we are not close, one friend who lives far away and has no DC, DC father who is flaky and not helpful. I know literally no one else. No one.

It would be somewhat reassuring to hear from people who's DCs have actually had COVID. I hope everyone is well.

Sorry I can't give any advice but just wanted to empathise. Im pretty isolated and have nobody to talk to. I have a DD who attends a Sen school as she is autistic and has really struggled with lockdown and a five year old. DH says they need to go back in Sept for their own good (which I do agree with) but as its creeping nearer I'm starting to get really scared. I feel like I always know what to do for the best interests of my children but for the first time as a parent Im scared, lacking in confidence and feel like Im going against my instincts. I absolutely hate this and I have no faith in the government to get this right. But I know in my heart home schooling isnt a option for my eldest. I just feel like Im going into a situation blindfolded to be honest

Well mine didn't test positive because there was no testing back in March but I was retrospectively diagnosed by symptoms and they were in the house with me.

Ds1 (14) - got a v hoarse voice and kept clearing his throat, felt extremely tired for a few days. These symptoms then disappeared but would periodically pop up from time to time over next 3 months.

Ds2 (12) - covid toe

Neighbours kids (4 and 2) also had suspected COVID (parents positive). 4 year old was quite poorly (but never dangerously so) for a week - diarrhoea, temperature , lethargy, bad cough, her little brother had a milder form of the same.

I know 2 more teens who are strongly suspected to have had it. They were older than mine and sicker, but recovered more or less after 2 weeks.

I get that you are worried, I am too, but kids tend not to get v sick with this.

@Porcupineinwaiting
Just wanted to say my 2nd son also got a very hoarse voice for about 5 days with fever and malaise as his main symptoms.

Porcupineinwaiting · 17/08/2020 16:35

@findingschools4myboys my dh too, although he also got a weird viral itching as well. In all honesty, the 3 of them have had worse colds, it is just me who can throw it off.

can't

@Porcupineinwaiting
Same as me, took almost 2 months for my symptoms to go. And a bit longer to feel “normal” still have some random symptoms that occasionally come to visit.
