Masks!

Chap coming out of the store today, mask clamped between his teeth!

Do you think he is super convinced that a middle aged overweight bloke will be fine, or do people not understand how masks can be a risk as well as a benefit ?

I saw someone chewing on theirs. Just why?

Snailsetssail · 15/08/2020 15:20

I watched someone remove disposable gloves with their teeth a few weeks ago!

Maybe he doesn't think masks (homemade ones, not medical certified ones that are fitted correctly) makes any difference.

I saw a whole family strolling round Aldi for what looked like a day out with not a face covering between them. 3 kids all over the age required to wear one (which is 5 in Scotland), and presumably mum, granny and great granny who looked in her 90s and was in a wheelchair. Kids pawing at everything in the shop, none of them social distancing and trying on school uniforms.

Exemptions exist, don't you know.

Met up with a friend this week, we were outside and she wore her mask under her chin the whole time. I've seen lots of people doing this. What is the point? It was very distracting and it was on the tip of my tongue the whole time to ask her why she was wearing her mask like that! So much so that I found it hard to concentrate on what she was saying. It's like it's a fashion accessory but it just looks stupid and is pointless.

At no point during our meeting did she even need to wear her mask which made it even more strange that she even brought it!

I just use a snood thing but I wear it in my hair as a hairband. I do this as I'm scatty and would forget. So at least if it's in my hair and I need to pop into a shop it's there. Maybe she's like that
pipnchops · 16/08/2020 19:09

At least the snood as a hairband wouldn't look quite so odd. We met in a park with no intention to go into any shops. She was definitely wearing it like some kind of fashion accessory and I've noticed a lot of people wearing it like that. Just seems a bit odd and I'm pretty sure wearing it on your chin and pulling it up and down as and when you need it is ineffective and actually puts you at increased risk.

Everyone I see wearing a mask keeps touching their face to adjust it. So in shops touching everything, self serve tills then adjusting mask then, debit card, packing shopping etc. then taking mask off and hanging it around their wrist or squishing it into a pocket. Not sure this was how it was meant to be.
