Trip to Germany

I've had a trip to visit friend in Hannover booked since December. We were really excited to go.
I simply do not understand the rules on the Gov website about whether we can go or not, and if we'd need to quarantine when we come back.
It's likely I'm being quite dim.
Should we go or not?

Germany is fine right now - no need to quarantine in either direction. But case numbers are rising gradually due to German tourists coming back from Spain and other hot spots, so this may change. When is your trip?

For now it's fine, keep an eye on the figures (each side, they could request quarantine for anyone from uk too), but Germany are amongst the best in the world at track & trace, so if any country can get back in front of the figures then it's probably Germany. Make sure your insurance is ok and have contingencies for quarantine period either end of your trip

but how do you get there? by car/ferry it's via quarantine countries.

my worry would be that germany puts restrictions on travel again

I'm supposed to be flying next Wednesday , coming back the following Monday, I have insurance, and able to quarantine if it becomes necessary.

Flying is fine.

Or, as I've just discovered, ferries via Norway and Scotland :)

Maybe they need to run non-stop trains between Cologne and London which don't stop anywhere :)
