Baby and toddler groups

Does anyone know what's happening with these? Have any in your area opened up?

I feel like they are an unnecessary risk in so many ways, but I've also had pretty much my whole mat leave without them and feel sad that we have missed out on them. We only had a bit of them at the start.

I know soft play is reopening but that feels really risky to me. What about the baby groups? I feel like some of them could be a bit more incentive in how they work.

Baby groups for mums on mat leave are one thing and should be possible within current guidelines but anythibg for toddlers is just out. The idea that you can enforce social distancing / stay on your mat / dont touch those other toys / etc with toddlers who can move independently is laughable. If you are a parent of a toddler observing social distance as it is described today, you should not really be meeting people anywhere or having any visitors unless you are taking extreme measures to prevent your toddler coming within 1m of others. Which is why I, and most other mothers of toddlers I know, have given up on the whole thing some months ago. Noone has thought about or mentioned, not even once as far as I'm aware, the needs of this age group and the struggles faced by their parents.

I run a programme for girls aged 2-4 at a local Nottingham school but we are still unable to welcome families due to COVID-restrictions. I am though creating an online learning and activity space for families to have access to specially designed activities by EYFS specialists. If anyone wants to find out more, feel free to send me a message and I can share more information.

Once it is safe to do so, we will be able to welcome families back into school.
