What thermometer is the most accurate?

I have a braun ear thermometer. My readings can be all over the place - lately it can be anything from about 37 to 37.5/37.8

Sometimes I can get different readings in one setting.

Over the past week and half my temperature readings have been elevated. In the morning times before now I used to get readings like 36.7, 36.8, 36.9. Now my readings are 37 and over?

Is there any reason for elevated temperature readings? I don't think I have any virus but who knows. I could have a possible exposure at work. I had a dental abscess last week but surely antibiotics would clear that up. Going through a lot of stress at the moment, would that alter readings.

I ordered a basal thermometer online for keeping on my bedside locker to use for taking readings and tracking my cycles more. Would that be more accurate. It takes readings orally and comes with an app.

A rectal thermometer I would have thought

I've got one that scans the forehead (no contact). Every time I press the button, it gives me a different reading. I could be 36.6 one second and then 36.2 the next and then 36.8 the next.
It wasn't a cheap one either.

I've a Braun ear thermometer and a forehead Digi one. Both cost £50 ( if that relevant reallyConfused).
Ear gives higher reading but like yours I don't think it's very reliable as I can be 36.6 one ear and 38 two seconds later in the other ear.
Forehead thermometer has yet to go over 36.5° for any of my four family members.. even when my DS had an obvious fever.

I don't think either are accurate.
My pharmacist told me that the ear ones were preferable to forehead scan ones although the best would be rectal.

It's been very hot, so your core body temperature will be higher.

I bought a basal thermometer for pairing with an app and tracking my cycles. It was delivered today and I couldn't resist using it.

I got results of
37.04
37.05
37.09

My ear thermometer is giving me readings of 37.2, 37.3

I'm looking forward to tracking my temperatures every morning now
