Hi
I'm thinking whether to get a pcr taken privately .
has anyone taken any and if so where? how long did it take to come back?

thanks

You can get tests freely now, why private?

singme · 10/08/2020 13:46

The free tests on the NHS are PCR and come back pretty quickly.

Do you mean an antibody test?

Or do you want a PCR test for reasons that don’t entitle you to a free one e.g no symptoms?

Exactly @singme. I’d want to fly in coming weeks so I understand nhs one is not for it hence why asking

Thought it might be something like that. I had seen a similar question in another group but have just searched it and can’t find it sorry! Does the airline suggest anyone?

EasterIssland · 10/08/2020 16:06

No it doesn’t but there is a test on arrival ... I should really test negative as my life is too boring but worried about being a symptomatic

You would need to check specifically what your destination needs.
For example -
www.surreygp.com/services/gp-services/covid-19-testing-coronavirus-test-guildford-surrey-2/

will do you a private test and certificate for £140.

Thanks @PatriciaHolm the location I’m going to does a pcr on arrival. Doubting whether to get one done here (I know I can get infected between both) so that if asymptomafic I cancel it. I’ve seen Lloyd’s does one for £99
