Question about testing

Just trying to see if someone could explain some things to me because the NHS website isn’t helping.
So from what I gather if you develop symptoms of Covid-19 which includes a temperature, you need to get a test. You need to self isolate along with your household and support bubble until you get your test and a result.
My question is really - how will this work over winter? Does this mean me and DH will have to take potentially 2 days at a time off work if one of them gets a temp? That both DC will miss school while we get a test and wait for a result every time they get so much as a temperature?
If that’s how it is that’s how it is but DH only gets statutory sick pay, this could really affect us financially.

Yup, sadly so

Although most results come back within 24 hours 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽 And I read they are working on a 3 hour result test!

Absolutely dreading the winter months. It’s not like my DC are always sick but we’ll get a good couple of bugs over the months and thinking we’d have to do this every time just fills me with dread!

Yes same, we’ve already had to get youngest swabbed so he could go back to nursery with a cough!

My boys a temp prone in winter, like monthly so we will be going through the testing drive through far too often!!

What I’m wondering really is that if children very very rarely get symptoms then you’d wonder why there wasn’t an age restriction. If under 11s don’t even need to wear a mask and can go back to school then really they shouldn’t need a Covid-19 test unless they have 2+ symptoms.
Say a temp and a cough. Just having a temp shouldn’t really warrant a need for a test for them should it?
