Social distancing with babies worries

I’m due to meet up with NCT friends soon and am feeling really anxious. There’s been talk of letting the babies play and socialize (all approx 9-7 months) as they’ve all missed out on this and an updated group photo etc. I feel so uneasy about this, I’m already panicking. I feel silly for feeling this way as my baby will he in nursery soon and will obviously be mixing with other children and adults but I can’t work past my fears at the moment. Government advice is children no longer need to socially distance but I worry we’ll be the unlucky ones to get the horrible PIMS-TS or infect vulnerable grandparents. Any advice?

You don’t have to go. Babies that age don’t need play dates and I wouldn’t be adding any risk as nursery will bring enough normal bugs let alone the chances of the virus.

It is up to you. If you don't feel comfortable then don't go.

It’s totally up to you. But babies don’t need to socialise and won’t get much out of it. Go if it will make a difference to you.

I wouldn’t feel guilty for bowing out in your shoes.

Maybe just meet up with one mum friend and their baby if it makes you feel more comfortable. I wouldn’t worry too much about socialisation with other babies at this age they learn mostly from parents and siblings. Plus if your baby is off to nursery soon they will have plenty of stimulation and interaction with others.
If you have been feeling lonely / isolated I would strongly recommend you try and meet up with another mum - go for a buggy walk and take a flask of tea/ coffee it will make you feel better / alleviate some of your anxiety.
