Car sharing w/children.

My DCs are 8 and 10. I am so happy that their sports clubs have resumed activities, they live for their sports and it will have a hugely positive impact on their mental health.

We are going to face an issue around car sharing, though. We only have one car and can't be in two places at once, so we've always relied on sharing lifts with other parents to get to the various matches that they play. These take place over a really wide geographical area so are not walkable / bikeable.

I've been following the rules as well as I can, but I can't see a way around this. All we can do is wear masks and have the windows open. To be, the negatives of not participating are more likely to be damaging than the infection risk of car sharing in masks. Am I being naive?

My son and his friend are going to be car sharing in September when college resumes. Buses where we live are sporadic and will take 90 mins as they don’t connect. I work in the direction of college so will give lifts.

To me it makes more sense sharing with the same person every day than random people on public transport.

In Scotland kids don’t have to social distance. You’re maybe not there, but honestly I wouldn’t worry - they will be mixing with those same people at the actual activities so I’m not sure being in a car with them will make much of a difference.

We've given one of DS's friends a lift a couple of times. He sits in the back with us in the front and I have windows open
