Hi

My 4 year old woke up choking/wheezing in the night saying his neck/throat was burning. Similar happened when he was little twice and ambulance came once. They said croup but it went within half hour and hospital doctor said aspiration. We do think he had silent reflux as a baby in hindsight. So last night we nearly called ambulance again but it eased off very quick and no grunting etc. Now today he is still saying his throat is hot/burning and has been coughing on/off since wake up. Playing and fine in himself otherwise. Gp isn't answering due to high volume of calls. Will they make us do a covid test on him first anyway?? Wondering if I should go drive through today anyway. No fever or other symptoms in any of us. Worried in case he aspirated lots tbh. Wet sounding cough.

Any advice appreciated.

Poor little thing, that sounds rubbish. I'd keep trying the GP and leave a message if you can. In the meantime book a test (they'll probably test you all) then when the GP does get in touch you'll be ready with that crossed off your list. Good luck

An update. So..... after discussion with 111(didn't get hold of gp) we were sent to a walk in centre, diagnosed with croup.
Could be allergy related or previous cold. (Not had any cold symptoms though?!)He's fine no more breathing issues since then just cough. Hoping it will go quick as I dont want to take him out and worry anyone as they might think it's covid.......
