House viewing do we wear masks

I'm sure this has been asked but I couldn't find a thread on it. Has anyone viewed a house recently? Did you have to wear a mask? Was it different from 'before'?

Yes, I probably should have asked the estate agent but I didn't think about it and we're leaving now for the viewing.

I would wear a mask.

Hairthrowaway · 01/08/2020 14:14

It would be courteous if you do

Isotope456 · 01/08/2020 14:15

I'd take one with me, for sure. And you'll probably have to wear it.

UpToonGirl · 01/08/2020 14:17

Thanks, no problem wearing a mask. Still getting used to remembering to take it out!

🙄

Lindy2 · 01/08/2020 14:18

I think it would be polite and sensible to wear a mask.

Useruseruserusee · 01/08/2020 14:19

I would as it’s considerate to others.

Sunshineonrainydays · 01/08/2020 14:19

I agree I think it would be best to wear a mask for all concerned.

Flev · 01/08/2020 14:20

Yes, wear a mask and sanitise your hands before you go in. Don't touch anything - the estate agent should be wearing gloves so can open cupboards, doors etc as needed if you ask.
We've had to do house viewings in this period, it sounds stressful but is fine if you just keep alert.

Junglerum · 01/08/2020 14:23

I’ve just sold my house (before mask wearing was brought in) agents advised people to wear masks and gloves. I viewed houses with different agents who all had different rules varying from, I couldn’t take my 5 year with me (single parent) To no mask gloves etc. Would take andexpect to wear

UpToonGirl · 01/08/2020 14:29

Not sure what the snippy comments are for, I was asking a question. I have no problem wearing a mask or anything else, just wanted to double check. I think people forget everyone has been having different experiences, I haven't really been out and was just looking for confirmation on what I thought. If you've been out and about/working etc this might all be old news to you but some of of might just be looking for reassurance.

Thank fuck I didn't ask on aibu!

Yes, I would.

Mindymomo · 01/08/2020 14:35

We’ve just sold an empty house, the estate agent wore a mask, so I wear one if I was viewing as well.

timetest · 01/08/2020 14:35

I’m not sure but in a situation where there is any doubt, I would err on the side of caution and wear a mask and gloves.

ViperBugloss · 01/08/2020 14:36

We are selling a house. Agent expects everyone to be wearing masks and also gives foot covers for shoes. All doors are open and noone touches anything in the house except the agent. He carries hand sanitizer which everyone uses on entering and exiting the property.

WaynettaIsMyStyleIcon · 01/08/2020 14:40

We are selling our house. People who have viewed since lockdown have been wearing face coverings. DH lets them in and then we sit outside while they view, they aren’t allowed to bring young DCs if they have them with them for the viewings currently.

Didicat · 01/08/2020 14:44

Every agent is different just ask what their coronavirus policy is? Also if you want to wear a mask and gloves just do so. Lots of places would not allow children in. Ours either stayed in the car watching an iPad or tried out the garden.

starfish4 · 01/08/2020 14:51

Yes, I agree with others, wear a mask and obviously try and avoid touching things.

ABrushWith · 01/08/2020 17:47

We wore masks to view a house last week and left our children in the back garden. The elderly owners who were showing us around didn’t wear masks and clearly thought we were nuts.

UpToonGirl · 01/08/2020 18:41

Well when we got there, put masks on just as we were stepping inside and the agent said not to bother unless we wanted to. We did keep them on while inside. He said there was only one other couple who had worn masks since he had started showings at 10.

He kept his distance but said just to go ahead and open whatever doors/cupboards we wanted to. Couple coming in just after is didn't look like they were going to put on masks.

The house wasn't for us so I didn't but generally I would be turning lights on and off and trying windows and taps. I can't imagine putting in an offer without doing those things so I don't know how that would all go now!

For house viewings in Scotland we had to wear masks. Not allowed to touch a single thing so all cupboards and doors were open and lights turned on.

tappitytaptap · 01/08/2020 19:45

We are selling and buying at the moment, no masks at all from anyone but we did offer at the house we went to view and they said don’t bother 🤷‍♀️. Just didnt get too close to other people.
