Overwhelmed by phantom smells

Anyone else lose their sense of smell recently? How are you managing? How long did it take to come back? I lost my sense of smell in April, meaning I cannot smell anything under my nose, but I get waves of phantom smells, some good, some not so good. Is this a good sign, do you think? will my actual ability to detect smells in the room come back? does this happen first?

Some phantoms I have smelt today:

Suncream
Vomit
Chlorine
Almonds
Damp
Lavender
Smoke
Pine needles
Garlic
Sewage
Baking bread
Gas
Aftershave

Anyone else?

Not me but my friend who had coronavirus is constantly smelling Body Odour even though she cleans every day and zoflora the crap out of her house. She lost her sense of smell and taste as well. She said it just lingers now.

@mosquitofeast could be your sinuses, could be hayfever, a neurological problem, lots of reasons. Unless of course you have had covid.

Well, I think I did have covid, although no testing was available at the time. I am just wondering when my sense of smell will come back!

I believe phantom smells are a good sign of your sense of smell starting to return? I think I read about it last year when I lost mine and was panicking that it would never return! It did Smile

That is nice to know, thank you

I lost mine in March, coming back intermittently at the moment. I can smell some things some days. It's abit weird because I never know if it's working or not 😂

Have you tried the training exercises that have been publicised?
