Who’s had an antibody test?

Our trust have finally got round to offering staff the blood test. So far, from what I’ve heard, everyone has been negative. Quite a lot of folk were ill early in March but it was before swabbing. We’ve also had good access to PPE right through.
I’ve got mine next week.

Yes. Mine was positive but I was only slightly unwell around Jan/Feb with non typical Covid symptoms.
Practice nurse.

coffeeandbiscuittime · 25/07/2020 12:22

Antibody positive, covid symptoms late March due to confusion re PPE. No swab ( antigen) test done. Still not got taste or smell back.

AnyFucker · 25/07/2020 12:25

Yes. Was positive.

Had (mild) Covid symptoms early on but not swabbed at the time.

PondDipper · 25/07/2020 12:33

Negative result in June and all the classic symptoms in mid March before swabbing. No taste/smell for 10 days and fatigue++.

Orangeblossom78 · 25/07/2020 12:43

I have had one, the Abbott one, negative, but only taken in July and had symptoms back in Feb.

rhowton · 25/07/2020 12:45

Positive antibodies. Wife of a police officer who has also tested positive. He has no symptoms; I lost my sense of smell, 40+ temp, back ached, blinding headaches and loss of smell. In hindsight, my youngest was also quite poorly, we linked it to a developmental leap and she's generally hard work, but we think maybe she had it and was poorly.

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 25/07/2020 12:46

I really want one! Not NHS and dont have a spare £100

Evenstar · 25/07/2020 12:59

I’ve just had a negative result, went to a BUPA clinic and paid privately. I was very unwell in February/March with rashes and severe headaches, dropped facial muscles, utterly exhausted and unable to manage day to day activities. It was put down to shingles, the rash appeared twice in less than a month (which would have been the 3rd and 4th time having shingles for me and full immune system tests showed no issues) and Hemiplegic migraines after an MRI scan. Rashes and neurological symptoms were not being considered as possible COVID at that time, so I was never tested.

Have just heard that DSS has had a positive antibody test but I was ill before he came to stay with us at the end of March, when he was very unwell.

QueenofmyPrinces · 25/07/2020 13:33

The staff on my ward (of all roles and grades) have all been tested.....about 60 of us as an estimation.

Of the 60 tested, 5 had a positive result, and only 1 of those five had ever been unwell.

Alderaan · 25/07/2020 13:45

I had one a couple of weeks ago. Normally I'm front line staff on a respiratory ward, but I've been on maternity leave since December. I was offered a test because I'm back to work in a few weeks.

Beginning in late March, I had a fever for nearly six weeks. I had no cough but suffered with fatigue and gastric symptoms. GP seemed to think it was Covid given how long it went on for.

My antibody test came back negative. I'm unsure if this is because I haven't had the virus, or if I no longer have antibodies due to the amount of time that has passed.

squeakyheart · 25/07/2020 13:46

Tested positive Last month I was ill in jan feb and DH spiked a temp in April but no other symptoms for either of us.

Alderaan · 25/07/2020 13:46

Why do paragraphs never bloody appear in my replies? Is the Android app just crap?

isitorisntit · 25/07/2020 13:53

Me. I became ill on 13th March. Still not recovered and was very poorly (too scared to go to hospital). Neuro issues on-going, headaches, rash just gone, chest burning, pressure and pain, heart bubbling, costocondrititis, trachea tightening, joint and limb pain, cough (just starting to subside), temperature, dizziness and loss of sense of snell/taste (still none). Had blood test 15th June and antibodies positive.

TinnedPearsForPudding · 25/07/2020 14:01

I'm a senior A&E nurse, I was ill for about 10 days over Easter with mild symptoms really. This was before swabbing & I am antibody negative
DH works in pharmacy & was ill the same time as me (funny that) but much worse with low oxygen levels high fever etc. Again, no swab for him but he does have antibodies

yeOldeTrout · 25/07/2020 14:02

I was tested as part of random population surveillance -- negative. Never had slightest reason to think I could have had it.

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 25/07/2020 14:40

Tinned do you think the test only shows a strong antibody reaction? So your body didnt make as many? The reaction diminishes? (Im not sciency!) Spunds like people who have had it arent all showing as having developed antibodies.

Cornettoninja · 25/07/2020 15:09

I was tested negative through work (nhs). I thought it would be but was unsure. I had some symptoms just before/at the beginning of lockdown that I’d wondered about but could’ve just as easily been anxiety related.

Since then though the six groups of symptoms have been identified and I’m wondering again. My symptoms fitted the gastro group perfectly but were very mild if that’s what it was. What made me even question it was I had a couple of episodes of diarrhoea that woke me in the middle of the night and I’ve never had that before no matter how ill I’ve been.

m0therofdragons · 25/07/2020 15:13

Yes and it was negative. Our whole trust was tested weeks ago and now we’re doing gps and dentists. Most people who were positive were known and expected but there were a few surprises.

Yes, from my anecdotal evidence (people at work) those who were more ill are more likely to have detectable antibodies. In the same sample I have noticed more men than women have antibodies. As I said this is only what I have noticed in my family & work colleagues
lunar1 · 25/07/2020 15:37

My husband and his entire NHS unit were negative except for one doctor who had positive antibodies. He had a slight sniffle for two days.

fadingfast · 25/07/2020 15:39

I was antibody tested last week (through the GP) with a negative result. I've had odd, but mild symptoms on and off since late March. Tight/constricted breathing, occasional heart palpitations, taste disturbances (rather than complete loss) and sore inside mouth. Not classic Covid symptoms, possibly anxiety related. No-one else in the house has been obviously ill, although my DS(15) has had what looks like a post-viral rash on his torso for ages (not sore or itchy, just red pinpricks).

So I've still no idea if I've had it or not.

maggiso · 25/07/2020 15:50

I was unwell ( fever, headache, generally unwell ) in early Feb- before Covid 19 was supposed to be in the community - so at time I assumed it was some other virus doing the rounds. Later I wondered if it could have been a mild version? .Serology test (nhs) was negative. Most my colleagues ( who were also ill in late Jan/ early Feb ) were also negative. I can’t comment on loss of sense of smell as I lost mine years back! ( sinus issues)

bigbluebus · 25/07/2020 15:54

DH and his colleagues all had one. All came back negative including one person who thought they may have had Covid symptoms earlier in the year.

Feargalthecat · 25/07/2020 15:54

I work in a pharmacy and 10 of us were tested. We had four positive results, 2 were expected as they'd been ill in March and took time off. I tested positive and was surprised as I'd had no symptoms and have been in work the whole time. One other girl tested positive and her only symptom was loss of smell but this was in March before it had been added to the COVID symptoms list.
We are offering the test to the public for £30 so I tested my 13 year old and he too was positive and had been poorly in March. Have to say out of the tests we have carried out so far, over 80% are negative.

mymymymymy · 25/07/2020 16:45

Tested positive for antibodies. Never had symptoms... Same for DH..
