Who’s had an antibody test?

Our trust have finally got round to offering staff the blood test. So far, from what I’ve heard, everyone has been negative. Quite a lot of folk were ill early in March but it was before swabbing. We’ve also had good access to PPE right through.
I’ve got mine next week.

It's worth noting that some virologists believe T cells have successfully fought off the virus however T cell reactions are not captured in anti body tests:

Is there anywhere private to get the venous test, not just the fingerprick one? Or any of the fingerprick ones that are considered accurate?

This came out today! 83% of people who had had covid had developed T cells!

camelfinger · 29/07/2020 21:53

Loss of smell and taste in March but negative for antibodies.

AlrightTreacle · 29/07/2020 22:05

@Grumblyberries

I bought the abbot antibody test (same as the ones the NHS are using for staff) from here:

www.better2know.co.uk/shop/products/home-testing-kits/covid-19-antibody-test

£69.99 for the test, think it's £50 extra if you need someone to take your blood, luckily my friend did mine for me for free. Got the results back less than 24 hours after I posted it.

shellbell2020 · 29/07/2020 22:08

Positive for antibodies. Had all the classic symptoms of Covid in March this year. Still haven't got my 100% of my sense of smell.

Purplewithred · 29/07/2020 22:11

Negative but no symptoms at any stage. Have a co worker who tested positive and she had no symptoms either.

Grumblyberries · 29/07/2020 22:11

thanks. I don't know where I'd get someone to take my blood! Might have to ask around any nurse or doctor friends. I thought there might be clinics I could go to at chemists or something

Northernsoullover · 29/07/2020 22:11

My friend tested positive for Covid-19 in April but her antibody test came back negative

FrankiesKnuckle · 29/07/2020 22:13

+ve covid and +ve for antibodies (frontline NHS)
Ill end of March and was 'lucky' our trust started one of the first rounds of swabbing.
Partner also +ve on both counts.

Greenkit · 29/07/2020 22:14

Both my partner and I tested neg

Two on our team tested pos and another two neg

🤷‍♀️

Sallyjo27 · 29/07/2020 22:15

Myself and most members of staff around 20 of us were tested for the antibodies. Some of us had mild symptoms- loss of taste and smell. None of us were really ill as such. And only 3 members of staff tested negative. The rest of us were all positive. I should mention we work in a primary school and had all been working in the hub (obviously not when we had symptoms)

Samster45 · 29/07/2020 22:22

They tested our full Building (nhs). We have probably around 300 staff members in there and not a single positive result. It’s really strange as we are a COVID positive treatment site as well so all COVID positive or patients with COVID symptoms are sent to us for their treatment (which is unrelated to COVID but obviously still needs doing).
We are in the north however, so maybe it’s just not circulating in high enough numbers? But obviously being a hot site I thought we would have had at least one positive result from staff members

Orangeblossom78 · 30/07/2020 12:56

Interested to know the ages of the PPs testing positive

as apparently under 40s don't give positive results as much due to their response...

Sallyjo27 · 30/07/2020 14:48

@Orangeblossom78 I’m 27 and the women I work with who have been tested positive too range from 22-50 x

Orangeblossom78 · 30/07/2020 14:53

Ok thanks interesting!

isitorisntit · 30/07/2020 16:26

@Sallyjo27 this make me furious. That's 85% of the primary school workers in your group having had corona. 85%!!! Meanwhile our local hospitals are finding approx 10% of staff are positive for antibodies. Yet apparently as kids don't get ill from it, teachers and support staff are fine to go back with no PPE and no distancing. Nice one Bozo, sorry BoJo.

cptartapp · 30/07/2020 19:57

orange I'm 48.

Sallyjo27 · 30/07/2020 22:51

@isitorisntit I agree with you completely, it goes to show how important PPE is and how effective it is. We’ve been told that in September the children don’t have to socially distance but the staff still have to. How that will work I’ll never know it’s just not realistic

findingschools4myboys · 31/07/2020 06:33

I tested positive on antibodies back in April. Was very poorly for a long time. I am in my 30’s.
My youngest who is 4 also tested positive in May when he had had mild cold like symptoms in March.
