Who’s had an antibody test?

Our trust have finally got round to offering staff the blood test. So far, from what I’ve heard, everyone has been negative. Quite a lot of folk were ill early in March but it was before swabbing. We’ve also had good access to PPE right through.
I’ve got mine next week.

Nhs but not frontline here. Negative antibody test. Not so DH was convinced I'd given it to him (not confirmed case) - seems I didn't & he isolated for whole period except child drop offs. Glad I was able to prove I was right!

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 25/07/2020 17:15

Fesrgsl. I would go to the pharmacy and do a test for £30.

Is it a chain of pharmacies or something I cna google? Ive googled "antibody tests near me" and its come up with bupa and a private doctors both at £100

SunbathingDragon · 25/07/2020 17:21

Negative. Had suspect symptoms in December so wouldn’t have been surprised if it turned out to be it (work in medical air repatriation and am a bank paramedic, so realistic to have been exposed). Colleague had a positive test in April (seemed to feel just as I had) and positive antibody test earlier in the month but another colleague was also positive at the same time and had a negative antibody test. 🤷🏻‍♀️

HeyBlaby · 25/07/2020 17:22

Negative and nursed many Covid-19 patients.

MyPersona · 25/07/2020 17:30

I only know 2 people currently eligible for the free antibody test and both tested positive, one had no symptoms and one had loss of taste/smell and nothing else.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 25/07/2020 17:30

My mum had one (NHS staff), tested positive. She had confirmed coronavirus in April.

MajesticWhine · 25/07/2020 17:36

I had Covid symptoms in mid-March. I was negative for antibodies though when tested a few weeks ago - official NHS test.

Fifilafrog · 25/07/2020 17:42

I had a temperature, weird tingly chills, a sore throat and cough in February followed by weeks of itchy toes but no rash. Had antibody test last week as am nhs. Negative.

Daughter shortly followed with a dry cough that lasted for weeks and complained of feeling out of breath a few times.

Could be coincidence 🤷🏻‍♀️

NickMyLipple · 25/07/2020 17:52

Frontline NHS, have had hours and hours of exposure to positive patients without symptoms in the early days. Negative tests and recently a negative antibody test. I literally have no idea how, given my exposure.

Orangeblossom78 · 25/07/2020 17:58

Apparently some people especially those under 40, may not test positive for antibodies due to having T cells instead. And it may only last a few weeks. So may have had it anyway.

Orangeblossom78 · 25/07/2020 17:59

There might be some immunity in general in some people wonder if that is why some do not get it. It's interesting. There are thoughts some people have immunity from e.g. other coronaviruses like the cold...

Franklinstein · 25/07/2020 18:01

Yes. I was negative as was the rest of my department.

honkytonkheroe · 25/07/2020 18:06

Husband was chose to do one at random and tested positive to antibodies. He was a bit unwell in March but we thought not COVID at the time. However, he caught it from my sister (who he works with) who visited London and was a bit unwell after. We then all visited friends within a week who became ill and was quite unwell and was convinced it was COVID. My sister and husband were just a bit flu like though. This was all just before lockdown.

sorryiasked · 25/07/2020 18:10

@Feargalthecat is your pharmacy a chain? I would like a test but googling only shows up £100+ tests within 50 miles of me

Feargalthecat · 25/07/2020 23:22

I work for a group based in the North West and we do a finger prick test which takes 10 minutes to produce a result.
There are a number of pharmacies doing them in our area, for between £30-£60 mainly independent ones so perhaps phone a few local to you and you may find one.

MarshaBradyo · 25/07/2020 23:24

Dh got one yet to use. Thinks he’s had a metallic taste in the past. Very him to get one.

fabien · 25/07/2020 23:34

80% of my team were ill in March and most have tested positive.

BanginChoons · 26/07/2020 00:08

I'm front line NHS. I thought I had it back in April, but my antibody test came back negative. I had a headache, fatigue, shivers, a persistent cough. Breathlessness for weeks.

Harencha · 26/07/2020 00:16

@fadingfast

I was antibody tested last week (through the GP) with a negative result. I've had odd, but mild symptoms on and off since late March. Tight/constricted breathing, occasional heart palpitations, taste disturbances (rather than complete loss) and sore inside mouth. Not classic Covid symptoms, possibly anxiety related. No-one else in the house has been obviously ill, although my DS(15) has had what looks like a post-viral rash on his torso for ages (not sore or itchy, just red pinpricks).

So I've still no idea if I've had it or not.

How did you get this through GP??
Egghead68 · 26/07/2020 00:24

Yes. Negative. NHS. Been ill since 21 March.

Popc0rn · 26/07/2020 01:45

I had mild symptoms before staff testing was available so never had a swab, antibody test a couple of weeks ago was negative.

One of my friends had mild symptoms and a positive swab in April, but their recent antibody test was negative.

ImagineRainbows · 26/07/2020 02:24

I have as I work in the NHS, I’m negative, not surprising as no symptoms at all. Those that were ill with CoVid confirmed on swab have come back positive for antibodies.

BatShite · 26/07/2020 02:26

Positive.

I was very ill in December with something that matched near all the covid symptoms, though we are told it didn't arrive here until March..blazed through our area like wildfire tbh, 2 elderly women in my street were hospitalized with it days after each other (both recovered). Still do not have taste back properly. I didn't get tested then, so it might have just been something oddly identical to covid I guess and I might have antibodies as I caught it later and was asymptomatic I guess. Only time I have noticed being ill though was December.

NegativeNina · 28/07/2020 19:27

Bloods taken yesterday, negative result today.

Positive - no symptoms at all but everyone else in my department tested negative
