Schools and Hand Sanitizer

Just wanted others opinions-
I have 2 DC in primary school. They have set out rules and guidance for September which all seems fairly straight forward. They have set out times they will make the kids use hand sanitizer. This is 7 times during the school day.
Obviously I want to keep everyone safe but am just a bit worried about the effects of using sanitizer 7 times every day on young kids skin. It badly strips the skin of essential oils and actually makes cracks and sores if you use it too much.
Has anyone else’s school set out guidance for this or is that just the norm now?

Were hand washing every hour apparently. With soap and water.

We don't even know what we're doing yet!...but they will tell us before September (I work at dd2's primary - no idea what they are planning either for us or the kids & my supervisor was sort of brushed off when she asked our current head what was what).

We will have gallons of hand sanitiser - in classrooms and dining hall. I am not certain if we are opening the library. The expectation is that people ‘squirt’ each time they go into a room. So we have 7 periods a day so that will be 10 squirts a day potentially- two registrations, lunch and 7 lessons

Oh hello T4U.

I'm allergic to hand sanitizer so have my own, bought forma chemist. Does no harm to my hands at all compared to the cheap crap.

I'm allergic to it too but I haven't ever found anything I can use - could you tell me what you've bought? Thanks!

I bought a bottle form the pharmacist in Sainsburys. It's medical stuff.

I think it depends what you are allergic to : with me it's the perfumes and it is respiratory, rather than an eczema type reaction but I have also found my skin doesn't dry out with this one. It's quite liquid.
I'll go grab the bottle and get its name for you.

Also, enquire after the school what they are using. Mine had to get rid of theirs because they discovered it contained allergens and have now sourced some different stuff. Given it is entirely unfunded, schools are going for the cheapest crap, I think.

It's called Kleengel.

Ah ok mine is a contact allergy....but I'd certainly be interested in trying something!
