I was thinking two each would be enough ?

Depends how often you go into a shop or use public transport. I don't drive, so my DH and I have 4 each (bought from etsy) and so does our 4 year old.

frumpety · 14/07/2020 07:16

Don't use public transport , so it would just be for shopping, forgot about Etsy ! Smile

Superdrug has basic cloth lines and anti bac cloth ones with a filter. Super comfy.

NightSpot · 14/07/2020 07:19

Ih they also sell the other surgical type too!

JacobReesMogadishu · 14/07/2020 07:20

Yes, I got mine from Etsy. I originally bought one with hairbobbles for ear bands but they really rub my ears.....maybe normal elastic loops would have been better. I’ve now got some which tie behind your heads which I think will save my ears.

labyrinthloafer · 14/07/2020 07:22

I was thinking three or four each, we also are not using public transport yet. I would rather not have to wash immediately as washing drives me mad anyway!

Would be interested to know if these slip!
icelollycraving · 14/07/2020 07:27

I got mine from Mabel & Mu after someone recommended them on a thread a while ago.

TennisButterfly · 14/07/2020 07:28

I have made 12 for our family of 4, they are 2 layers of fabric with a pouch for a filter, but we don't really go shopping together only 1 of us nipping to Tesco or to get petrol.
I am encouraging everyone I know to get fabric ones or anything that isn't a blue surgical one from the purely selfish reason I have a phobia of hospitals/doctors.

usernotfound0000 · 14/07/2020 07:58

I made some for me and DH. We currently have 3 each but now we are going out a little more I might make a couple more. I know under 11s are exempt but I might make one for DD who is 5.

JacobReesMogadishu · 14/07/2020 07:59

No the tie behind your head ones don’t slip. I used to work in an operating theatre and all our surgical masks were tie behind your head ones and never slipped.

Lovelydovey · 14/07/2020 08:01

We have 4 each - enough to allow for more than one in a day and washing. Ours are very basic masks from Baukjen which I found was one of the cheapest places to buy them - and did packs including child sized masks.

Thank you! I will make one like this next!

Asda have surprisingly good cloth ones in store (£3 for a two pack)

islockdownoveryet · 14/07/2020 08:07

I just have one washable I don't go to the shops everyday so that should suffice .

Please don't go out bulk buying masks 1 or 2 is enough.

TimeWastingButFun · 14/07/2020 08:08

I've got about 20-25, soft cotton stretchy ones, and wash them after each use.

TimeWastingButFun · 14/07/2020 08:09

I use kitchen roll inside, folded into a little rectangle.

LadyCatStark · 14/07/2020 08:14

Please only buy what you need. The price of masks on amazon shot up last night immediately after the announcement 😡. If face masks go the way of toilet rolls, some people won’t be able to leave their houses at all.

Magpiecomplex · 14/07/2020 08:15

One or two is not enough if you're using public transport - I'm working on three per person per day for us. One for the train or bus there, one in the office or if needed for school, one for the train or bus home. Double that if you want some leeway on washing them...

BackInTime · 14/07/2020 08:19

I have seen lots on sale in supermarkets sometimes at tills and are not that expensive

shamalidacdak · 14/07/2020 08:20

Bulk buy on Amazon

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 14/07/2020 08:23

I was going to recommend the Asda ones. My glasses didn't steam up either.

ClashCityRocker · 14/07/2020 08:24

We have two each, don't use public transport so only used once every few days and can wash in between.

frumpety · 14/07/2020 08:26

@Lovelydovey had a look at there , they seem quite high up the face ?

Made some out of socks. Easy to do, just a few snips.
