Why the 24th?? I don't get it!! If they help why not straight away or even just a day or two to allow people to prepare????

No idea, and it makes no sense to me at all.

Unless there's some sort of legal instruments required and it takes a few days to set up?

I really don't get it either. If people haven't got around to getting them yet they are readily available to get in a few days. Why ten days??

I assumed it was to coincide with school holidays starting. Living in a tourist hotspot we are already hearing things like 'it's nice not to worry about the restrictions here' and they are carrying on as if there isn't a pandemic. This could really help tourist areas avoid a spike in cases (hospitals are prepping for late August spike).

Having said that I don't get why they don't implement it sooner unless it's a legislative issue...

I guess they have to give people time to get hold of masks.
