Face masks for children

So I'm thinking they may well be compulsory soon. We have been using disposable ones but now looking at washable. I was looking to make our own for our children. Anyone done this? Is it literally just material?

Presumably children over age 5?

I made the pleated kind with cotton fabric and elastic.
They wash fine.
I used a pattern by Spoonflower.

If under 5 they are exempt so don’t feel you need to

I've made some with both of these patterns. The first one is the more 'shield' type shape and the second one is the pleated type. I think both have options for a filter pocket. And both have child sized options though I haven't tried making one for a child yet. I might make a couple for my eldest (10) incase. We did end up taking my youngest to the gp unexpectedly recently and it made me think I'd better have some in for my eldest.

I found the first link the easiest to make personally and ended up the neatest. I sewed in very thin hair elastics to secure around the ears but I'd probably use ties for a child as they became really uncomfortable after an hour or so. (I had a driving lesson).

@winniesanderson thank you they're great. Never thought I'd have to do this, but it's just in case we do need to take them to shops/dr etc.
