I can’t keep up with the social distancing!

Depends where you live - in England it's 1m+, elsewhere it's still 2m

Honeydukesmum · 09/07/2020 19:07

2m where possible if not 1m plus ( mask , not facing people etc)

torydeathdrug · 09/07/2020 19:13

Scotland are changing from 2 sometimes too

"Confirming the move to phase three of Scotland's way out of lockdown, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said exceptions are to be made to the two-metre social distancing rule in some contexts.

Public transport and retail settings will see the two-metre rule relaxed from Friday, the First Minister said, but mitigations will have to be in place in these sectors following discussions with trade unions."

PuzzledObserver · 09/07/2020 20:23

If you personally want to be safe, as far apart as possible.

daisymay133 · 09/07/2020 20:25

It’s never just 1m

It’s 2m but 1m plus if 2m not possible

The plus means extra protection

OhioOhioOhio · 09/07/2020 20:26

It's both. Depends on where you are and who you are with.

rwalker · 09/07/2020 20:28

2m preferred it you can't no less than 1m more if you can hence 1m plus .

daisymay133 · 09/07/2020 20:32

The 1m plus doesn’t refer to over 1m

It refers to 1m plus additional measures such as masks, seating back to back etc

Don’t think it’s just 1m

PilatesPeach · 09/07/2020 20:39

and in gyms from 25th July 3 square metres per person!

LilyPond2 · 10/07/2020 00:50

What daisymay said. The bottom line is that 2 metres is still safer than 1 metre. The "2 metre rule" was relaxed for commercial reasons to enable pubs etc to function, not because of developments
in the science. If you are looking at what's best for your personal safety, you should still keep a 2 metre distance from anyone not in your household whenever you can.

BogRollBOGOF · 10/07/2020 01:02

2m if possible.
1m minimum, possibly with extra protection.

Time and ventilation matter.

I'm not going to dive into bushes/ road when passing in the street, but I'm happy to respect 2m in a queue when proximity lasts longer.

We can't save the NHS if 2m kills the economy and tax revenues and cause mass redundancies.

Funnily enough I went into a Tesco express tonight and asked the security guard on the door if I could go straight in? (pretty empty shop). He waved me no problems, but when I went to stand back at the till (as previously directed). I noticed they've taken up all the signage off the floor regarding the tap and 2 metre foot spot signs.... So who knows? Can we all just huddle together again? I was surprised it had been removed to be honest.
