Airborne?

So the WHO are now saying the virus is airborne.
If that’s the case, surely logically speaking, most people will have contracted it by now? Especially when the virus was circulating before lockdown, when tubes were still running, people were still working in offices etc.
I can’t get my head around it.
And surely if that’s the case, the mortality rate is much lower? As there are many more mild or asymptomatic cases than estimates suggest?

People did catch it before lockdown. Yes it’s contagious but it’s not in the same league as something like measles.

That's not exactly what they're saying though. They're saying that in specific environments it could be. The Tube would be one of those environments.

17% of london (6% of uk) is quite a lot considering lockdown.

I dont know about airborne but clearly hand washing is not enough.
