Testing

I've been feeling unwell for 5 days now. Sore throat, headache, aching & tired. I've a medically vulnerable daughter so we've been very careful shielding but not completely. I don't have one of the 3 main symptoms but understand it's still possible to get a drive through test - I can't decide if I should or if it's more likely I've picked up something else. What would you do?

As shielding has not yet paused, even for DC, then I think it is important to get tested.

If you are positive, inform your DDs consultant. There is considerable research interest in how those with conditions on the shielding list are affected by the disease.

Thanks - sorry I wasn't very clear. DD is not on the medically vulnerable list but our Consultant and GP have said that Covid 19 could likely make her very ill so we have been super cautious since lockdown.

I'd definitely get tested. You could get a home test rather than drive through.

Thanks, as I'm on day 5 of symptoms it looks like the drive through is the only option. Day 4 is the latest for a home test.

How did you get on, OP?

I decided to get tested and it came back negative.
