Could furlough scheme return second peak?

Currently the furlough scheme is up to the end of October. However, a second peak could be on the cards. If this happens and another lockdown is required could you see the furlough scheme returning?

If the second wave is bad then a lock down will be necessary but that will mean businesses have to shut.

Another possibility is no lockdown if things are bad but that means more deaths.

No they can't afford it !!!!

Notfeelinggreattoday · 07/07/2020 21:42

I don't think so

Evelefteden · 07/07/2020 21:43

I don’t believe there will be another lock down.

There hasn’t been a second wave after VE Day, crowded beaches, riots, non essential shops opening.

It could be london wouldnt be that bad as it already has 17% immunity.
Some industries wont be able to start until next year. I can see furlough being extended. Ive seen second wave predicted for october. - but then that will surely affect xmas.

The only thing we can all do is try to keep on top of vitamin d levels especially over winter..
If people are having routine tests maybe they could have that taken too.

No, the govt have said as much in previous articles I've read

They would need to reintroduce in the event of a national lockdown they would not get compliance otherwise. For this reason there will not be another national lockdown because we cannot afford it!

I doubt it. Second wave or not they can't just magic money up.

NHS is planning for a second peak to coincide with the flu season. Flu jabs will be offered early to try to make sure those who need them get them. A second lockdown might well be needed but I don't expect the government to put one in place, or any support for those who are impacted. It'll be all our own fault this time, according to them.

Might be salary assistance but I would presume it would have a conditions of job guarantee attached.
