Track and trace workers who do you contact?

People are testing positive who have been to a public venue. So the big question I have is what happens now for the other customers who were in the same place at the same time? This could apply to hairdressers as well as pubs. Will they now be told to self-isolate or will it only be the people in the actual group with the person who tested positive and staff who served them who are now supposed to isolate for 2weeks? I’m not clear about how far you have to throw the net?

I’ll be happy to go to the pub for a pint just as i’m happy to go back into the office /meet with friends in the park. However I would not be happy if by just being in the same venue as a random person who tests positive means me (& my family?) then have to curtail all our activities for 2weeks. Who actually gets contacted?

Lots and lots of people arent taking name or address or contact details. We went out and ate in at a popular food chain on Saturday, we didnt book, just walked in. No contact details taken. So if anyone in there reports they had covid, track and trace havent got a chance in hell of contacting anyone.

@Candyfloss99 - if your DH got symptoms at exactly the same time, doesn't that suggest you both caught it at the same time? I thought the minimum incubation period was 2 days. Is there anyone you have both been near or anywhere you've both been?

Candyfloss99 · 07/07/2020 19:15

@mrex no we'd both just been at work in 2v different places and at home all weekend.

MRex · 07/07/2020 22:30

That's so weird. Last week you didn't leave the house at all together? And nobody came round, even to the garden?

SpillTheTeaa · 07/07/2020 22:54

The pub local to me has had a positive case and they took names and numbers of people who were in the pub that night. Still don't think pubs needed to re open but that's my opinion Grin

dd and her friend had booked a table in a pub against my advice on Saturday, but when they got there, the pub decided "they weren't bothering with the bookings" so I don't hold out much hope of many pubs actually having the foggiest about who was where.

(dd and friend decided to get some drink from the supermarket and sit in the park at a decent distance instead)

Candyfloss99 · 08/07/2020 20:55

@MRex only left the house to go to work. My mother came round to the garden once last week, 10 days before I had symptoms, but she hasn't had any symptoms. Track and trace said I could have got it from touching anything like putting petrol in the car or opening post or anything.

Candyfloss99 · 08/07/2020 20:56

@mrex also track and trace are only interested in where I've been 48 hours before symptoms.

MRex · 08/07/2020 23:14

Ah that's so unlucky! How are you feeling today anyway? I hope you both have a very mild case.

WildSkitty · 09/07/2020 09:33

Track and trace are only interested in where you were in the 48 hours before symptoms to try and work out if you could have passed it to anyone. They aren't trying to work out where you got it from.
