What is it with some peoples entitlement during this global pandemic?

The cafes and restaurants are just opened. The pubs are opening and there's a huge sense of entitlement to go out and not only go out but to do so every weekend also along with foreign holidays and travelling has shown up to be high risk. For some people there is just no balance to their life and they want it all. Some people I know, unfortunately their priorities is not with their children or trying to keep safe and healthy for their childrens sake if anything else. Their priority is going out every weekend and continuing with holidays.

I'm someone who would be more than happy with a walk along a beach or staying in and working on laundry that had to be done instead of feeling entitled to go out every weekend.

Really?

I am sorry that I am so entitled & such a bad mum for taking my 5 month out to actually experience what goes on in the world!! We visited a local farm park & restaurant this weekend & it made me feel so much better. She is learning that a world exists outside of my home & our local area.

I have been bored to the back teeth of pavement pounding near my home. She is spending time with her grandparents. She hadn't done that since 4 weeks old!!!

I will be as entitled as I like. Being stuck at home is no life for us.

You do you. I've had my fill of doing the laundry.

And I will now go back to the gym, book some tickets asap for some exhibitions. This has given me an incentive to book a hair appt (done) and just booked a pub lunch for the family for this weekend.
God, that feels good!

@Longwhiskers14

I'm curious as to how many of the parents now flocking to beaches, shops, restaurants, etc, still aren't sending their children to school because they think it's not safe. Out of 60 children in my DC's Y6, only 27 have returned to the classroom.
Secondary special school. I'd send him in in a heartbeat but they won't bloody have him back, despite being vulnerable.

We're just continuing as normal. Family coming to visit from the states in 2 weeks. Virus is low where we are though

Puppybum · 07/07/2020 03:36

I did such a great job of shielding my mum she's now in a psychiatric ward!

Bet you were a "covid curtain twitcher" during lockdown and now need to find another sport to keep you going.

People are entitled to do what they want. I don't think we are living in a dictatorship quite yet. The government didn't quite pull that one off.

I would love to go for a “little walk on the beach” except the closest beach is a minimum of 2.5 hours away from my house.

Guess I can do laundry though.

Yep, we live in The Midlands so we're not lucky enough to be anywhere near a beach.

I'm sure the OP is also somebody who hates people travelling to their nearest beach for the day.

We're holidaying in Cornwall in September, fingers crossed. I'm hoping that neither the Midlands or Cornwall are locked down in September. The desperate to get away as well so sick of where we live now!

You should be ok down here, we've had next to no cases over the last few weeks from what I understand from the local paper.

OP is obviously a goady fucker (or a teenager who should be at school). Who uses the word laundry in 2020.

HappyMealWithLegs · 07/07/2020 14:30

Doing the laundry Grin Priceless.

I'll stick to getting back out to bars and restaurants at the weekends, you stick to your laundry.

I'm sorry to hear about your mum.

This has happened to my ex MIL (I am still close to the family). Her son followed the rules, would drop off shopping and not go inside for example, and over the period of lockdown she has gone from being a fit and active 80 to someone who is suicidal, refusing to eat and needs carers to wash and dress her.

Lockdown has had a very bad effect on a lot of people.

Puppybum · 08/07/2020 12:13

Gingerkittykat heartbreaking isn't it

So bloody sad.

Hope your mum gets better soon.
