What is it with some peoples entitlement during this global pandemic?

The cafes and restaurants are just opened. The pubs are opening and there's a huge sense of entitlement to go out and not only go out but to do so every weekend also along with foreign holidays and travelling has shown up to be high risk. For some people there is just no balance to their life and they want it all. Some people I know, unfortunately their priorities is not with their children or trying to keep safe and healthy for their childrens sake if anything else. Their priority is going out every weekend and continuing with holidays.

I'm someone who would be more than happy with a walk along a beach or staying in and working on laundry that had to be done instead of feeling entitled to go out every weekend.

Doing things you’re allowed to do is not being entitled.... very strange attitude.
We went out to dinner last night. This weekend we are going to the cinema. We will follow all the guidelines. Why is that being entitled? We’ve spent months just being at home, I would like to go and enjoy the things I am now able to do.

hashtagbollocks · 06/07/2020 13:45

people have a huge sense of entitlement because they want to go out?
Really?
After nearly 4 months of going nowhere?
yeah, bastards

FizzFan · 06/07/2020 13:47

Oh well done OP. Your medal is in the post I’m sure.

HeadSpin5 · 06/07/2020 13:47

Such a sanctimonious post (OPs).

Stellakent · 06/07/2020 13:48

I went for Sunday lunch in a pub yesterday. That makes me entitled? I've lost my job and don't live anywhere near a beach.

You're sanctimonious and judgey OP. Im glad I'm not like you. Get on with your washing and mind your own business.

Clumsyduck · 06/07/2020 13:48

Well luckily people whose hobbies include walking and doing the laundry have being able to indulge in those throughout lockdown . For those of us who fancy a little more adventure we are also now permitted to get out and do those things wink]

Juststopswimming · 06/07/2020 13:49

OP you may be happy living a life that is full to the max by doing a load of laundry. I am not. I would like to make the most of the time on this planet that I've been given. The last 4 months feel like a waste, I hate that 4 months of my kids childhood have been basically on hold. So yes. If I want to go and enjoy a pub garden, a theme park or a foreign holiday, I will, thanks very much. Notwithstanding the fact that I'm legally allowed to do all of these things, I've assessed the risks for myself and the benefits far outweigh them. But you crack on with the ironing and keeping safe indoors.

Glittertwins · 06/07/2020 13:52

Wow, laundry. I feel I've really missed out these last 100+ days

Bumpitybumper · 06/07/2020 13:52

I actually find people like OP to be the most entitled as they believe they have the right to dictate how others should live their lives and anyone that disagrees is irresponsible and doesn't care about their children Hmm

I accept that some people choose to still stay at home irrespective of current government guidance. That's fine and I would never judge these people badly or try to force them to go out to places or engage with activities that they weren't comfortable with.

It seems however that lots of these people are more than happy to judge those of us who are happy to get out there and enjoy activities within the parameters of the current rules.

Boredsilly · 06/07/2020 13:52

I'm allowed to go to the pub so I will go to the pub if I want to

torydeathdrug · 06/07/2020 13:56

ffs a pandemic is by definition global so 'global pandemic' is a tautology & really fucking annoying. Please stop.

Exactly this.

HairyFloppins · 06/07/2020 13:57

You sound like the Daily Mail comments section OP.

FizzFan · 06/07/2020 13:57

Yes this! It gets right on my tits. It’s like “PIN number”

PickAChew · 06/07/2020 14:00

If you love laundry, so much, I have a constant fucking mountain of it, with all sorts of interesting stains, that you'd enjoy.

Personally, I'd like a life with more balance away from the constant fucking laundry.

Surely this is a joke ?

You know that doesn’t make you a morally superior person, don’t you?

LovingLen · 06/07/2020 14:06

I have never thought that doing laundry was a pastime

PatriciaHolm · 06/07/2020 14:07

Did you purse your lips and hoick your bosom after typing that, OP?

The whiff of martyr really isn't very pleasant.

doolallyboo · 06/07/2020 14:09

Are you going out for anything OP?

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 06/07/2020 14:10

I think this must be a joke too. Or a deliberate goad to get responses. The OP isn't coming back. Maybe they're stuck under their laundry pile.

Whoknowswhocares · 06/07/2020 14:11

Some people I know, unfortunately their priorities is not with their children or trying to keep safe and healthy for their childrens sake if anything else. Their priority is going out every weekend and continuing with holidays.

Socially distanced leisure is perfectly safe. Everyone has the right to decide the balance of risks to themselves and their family within the rules. Sanctimonious judgy posts sneering about the parenting skills of people who don’t agree with your narrow minded view just make you look a bit of an aggressive neurotic arse, quite frankly
You stick indoors with the washing and leave the rest of us alone

doolallyboo · 06/07/2020 14:11

Maybe they're stuck under their laundry pile.

🤣 God I wish someone would sort mine!

Longwhiskers14 · 06/07/2020 14:11

I'm curious as to how many of the parents now flocking to beaches, shops, restaurants, etc, still aren't sending their children to school because they think it's not safe. Out of 60 children in my DC's Y6, only 27 have returned to the classroom.

Just out of interest, how does one ‘flock’? I would like to do it but I’m not sure how. Anyway to answer your question, mine are at school.
